I thought Mike Jackson being GD or VL was cap because of how young he was when he moved, but then I double checked his biography and he left Gary when he was 11 years old. 11/12 years old is around the age that alot of people first start banging here in Chicago. For example, me and my friends all turned BPS around 12 years old because the Stones controlled everything from 83rd to 95th Halsted to Eggleston and my school was located inside the Stone turf so everybody had no choice but to become Black P. Stone. The GDs hood was east of us ans the GDs went to a seperate school. But I remember us gangbanging and fighting GDs and approaching kids to ask them if they were GD as early as 5th and 6th grade. So that's the age that the banging begins. So if Mike left at 11, and grew up in a gang hood or if his school was dominated by a gang then it is technically possible that maybe he could have been GD/VL/Stone before he went to Los Angeles. But he would have been at the age where he just started banging.
