The interview with Jackson was hilarious, he came off quite well, Sheahan's just trying to cope with what he said. He made a big deal of Open Mike being his show yet that episode was one that he didn't want to do, or take responsibility for, Fox made him do it? He also didn't explain the background: back in the day some journos tried to blame Jacko's on-field antics & tribunal appearances for his father's death (from a heart attack IIRC). He was very close to his old man & clearly never forgot, or forgave. Why should he?

I 100% agree . Jacko didn’t do anything fake, he called it like it is and was. You hit the nail on the head with the stuff about his father was disgusting and im glad Jacko never forgave or forgot any of it

@@wevans1400 Watch the ep, at its beginning you'll see Jackson starts to discuss it but then goes off on a tangent & the interview doesn't come back to the subject so that those who don't know about it (weren't around back then) would've have mostly missed what he was talking about. Sheahan knows what Jacko's like & why hedislikes certain journos from back in that era. He spruiks Open Mike as his baby yet claims the Jacko interview was forced on him? lol Sheahan was never in physical danger, that's BS. Most of Jacko's reputation as a hard man is exaggerated & a bit of bluff; Jacko loved taking a theatrical approach. And a splendid bit of theatre it was.

Enjoyed the interview guys - always enjoyed Open Mike when it was on. Would've loved to have heard more about his fall out with Sam and Don but can understand why. Shame to hear that it went that way, especially at their ages. Such is life, I guess! Anyway, thanks again for putting these interviews out there - it's much appreciated.

Well done, schoey and Dan. This past year, you blokes have killed it! Such a refreshing and unique take on covering aussie sports stories. Love the unfiltered and honest feel to everything you boys do. keep it up bigger and better things to come for sure. PS schoey fuck up about the west coast trade period we know it was shit.

I don't mind Mike. He mentioned Fitzroy's demise. There were stories at the time that Mike was the media mouthpiece for the AFL (like Caro was years later) that contributed to the end of Fitzroy.

Great to see Western Suburbs blokes doing well. They tend to say what they mean and not hide behind anonymity or other people. PS His cousin is Paul who was a pretty handy Australian test cricketer from 1967 -1974. Werribee boy too.

How come he's never gone an interview interviewed Bomber Thomson about his drug use........ How come he's never interviewed anyone from Melbourne about their drug culture?...... Mike Sheehan hates interstate players and teams. He never interviews any of them fairly he is Victorian through and through and he only cares about Victorians ...... so when is he gonna interview bomber Thomson about methamphetamine?.... I look forward to that!! oh that's right he's Victorian.

Templeton and Moore trade is probably one of the biggest story of player movements of all time. Bigger than Barrassi moving? Bigger than Smith being sacked at Melbourne? These are some of the greatest stories of all time. And before my time. About time the AFL got an AFL 101 thing going on their website. If you want to know about AFL you need to know about the facts and history.

It was a massive story because of the players involved but also because the players' manager, Jeff Browne, sold them as a 'package' to the highest bidder. That's right, THE Jeff Browne, who just stepped down as Collingwood president. Four decades ago, he sold Collingwood's best player to Melbourne to make a quid.

@@sentimentalbloke185 the other story, not as big is the fight between collingwood and Richmond when they both started stealing players from each other and over paying.

@@BDub2024 It was a summer of madness with clubs making offers they couldn't afford & massive clearance fees being paid, it all culminated in the Foschini court case that declared the VFL rules a restraint of trade. That was actually a bigger story than Moore/Templeton or Collingwood/Richmond.

@@sentimentalbloke185 With Coll Rich you also had guys swappng between teams like Annear and co from memory. Actually I agree that Coll Rich wasn't really a big story it just pushed those clubs to the edge financially. The big story was Barrassi going to Carlton. Way before my time. Also if you ever have a chance of seeing the Sunday football program after Norm Smith got sacked. It has Smith, his wife, and Barassi in the studio. Its compelling viewng. I think Tony Charlton football show.
