Hi Don, thanks for the reaction. I discovered the Moonpies about 2 years ago and can't get enough of them. This song is the kind of song that will get you a speeding ticket if you're listening while driving. Lyrically it sounds like a typical country song about the struggles we all face but when you throw in the few subtle Johnny Paycheck it takes it to a different level. 3 other Moonpie songs that I really like are---Smooth shot of Whiskey, Hour on the Hour, and Wedding Band, which is another well written double entendre song. Anyway I'm babblin' so thanks again and may all The subs. enjoy this as much as me.

@Mike Barnett I really like "Hour on the Hour". Don't know if you've heard of The Three Timers, but their song "Love Goner" has a very similar energy to "Paycheck to Paycheck". You might like it! :-)

@@davidemswiler4351 Hour on the Hour had everything that says hit while stil being somewhat traditional. It is sad for the band that they can't get a sniff from Nashville, however, it may not be that bad for us and the rest of their fans. I have not heard of The Three Timers but will definitely check them out. Also what do you think of Flatland Calvary there seems to be a lot of buzz about them but I haven't really gotten into them yet?

@@mikebarnett9012 Big fan of Flatland Calvary...one of the best right now! Don did one of their songs about a year ago and I've also requested “A Life Where We Work Out” featuring his beautiful and talented fiance/wife? Kaitlin Butts. They're one of those bands that you don't need to song-pick, just grab an album and go. :-)

@@mikebarnett9012 Wow, you probably know their music better than all of us now! Good call on the comparison to REK...that's a big part of why I got into them.

Glad you liked it. The Moonpies have been around for a few years, if you want to hear more I will recommend an older one called 'Smooth Shot of Whiskey' that was written by Gary Stewart and a newer he of their own called "Hour on the Hour".

Always a fun song! What makes me sad is although they are a very talented neotraditional Country band that has a strong regional following, Music City ain't buying. Which makes it pretty much an autobiographical song. I remember an interview with Mike Harmeier where he said that if the band wasn't able to get an advance from their sponsors, they wouldn't even have the money to get to their next show. Fair or unfair, Nashville still controls the big money. :-( Thanks for doing this one Don...another you might like is their cover of Gary P. Nunn's "London Homesick Blues"(but its a sad one!)
