Trouts shoulder tilt and hip hinge are something else. He hits 99 low and in like a still golf ball. His upper body mechanics never change, he just adjusts his torso to maximize his natural swing regardless of in out up or down

Thats the first thing i noticed about his swing. He can launch 450 ft homeruns with minimal leg movement. Those back and abs muscles must be unreal. THEN you combine the fact that he has a legit uppercut, and adjust his waste bend and still create the torque he does while keeping the bat in the zone..... WHOO BOY! Jeters hands, Bonds coordination, Pujols core, and unbelievably calm feet.

Excellent video analysis! Seeing the mechanics visually along with your commentary on all the key points is a great teaching tool.

I’m real selective with pitches too, but unfortunately that does 0 good when you play Highschool ball and the umpires are legally blind and call balls in the dirt or in the batters box or have beef with coaches.

I like how you stated what younger (non-professional) do wrong rather than just saying what trout does right. Very good video. Thanks.

Great job of breaking down his swing mechanics, as a coach I appreciate how you described his leg kick and how he is successful with this approach. Not saying yes you should, or no you shouldn’t have this kind of approach. It’s not something I encourage, but your explanation of why he is successful with it is was very good. Nice job coach

This is really just a great, and complete, explanation of how to hit. I am a senior citizen (aka: old fart) and got back into softball about 3 years ago. I was terrible when I first started - would swing so hard that I would fall on the ground - but somhow the ball would usually land about 10 ft. from the plate and I was able to make it to first most of the time - completely goofy. Anyway, I've been improving a lot and this video is really helping with my batting tee practice. After watching this over and over, it seems to me that this is almost a sort of "pitching motion" - at least to me. I imagine that I am trying to throw a kind of "change up" to help me slow down the first part of my swing - and then "snap" the to the ball at the end of my swing. Also, I holding the bat with just my thumb and index figure on my right hand to make sure I get the "snap". Anyway, to those seniors that are struggling with hitting, I would recommend you watch this video - over and over.😎

I've think about this video a lot - so, since you are so good at adding analytical directions in this video - I think it would be interesting if you would do a video that compares a "swing" to the motion that a "pitcher" makes ( load, stride, throw) - what made me think of this is I've been visualizing my bat trying to "catch" the ball and "throw" it back into the filed - of course, it's softball for me, but sorta kinda might be an "overlay" for regular baseball - anyway, just a thought.

Can you show me back knee going over back foot in a swing? I don't think that is even possible! people always talk about it but can imagine it can even be done... would love to see video of it..

One of the best hitters! Look at that extension! Lol TV guys sure like to use that term the extension has nothing to do with the swing! That comes after contact and if your swinging through the ball like you should there is always going to be extension.

The part about the foot is kind of wrong. He does that because he is driving with that leg instead just turning his foot. Most MLB players end with their foot turned but most of the time initially drive and then turn their foot.

His eye level barely changes. Even though he has a big leg kick and has a bigger shoulder drop than most. The only reason he is successful with those types of swing mechanics is because his eyes stay level.

Trout probably admittedly so had a terrible swing on this ball. Although, he’s a natural, he can get away with swinging like this and still kill the ball.

He has a pretty good swing but every player has their own swing. What works for Roberts doesn’t work for Trout or any other player. There’re players that can’t hit with a high load kick, there are others that use a little foot tap. Its all about feel and doesn’t mean one style is better than the other.
