I'm looking into getting Mikrotik with Ubiquiti Wifi APs (to replace my old homegrade Asus AC66U-s) and find your videos really good, educational and well packed with info! Stumpled upon many of them :)

Finally, BFD! I was trying to test it at the end of last year with OSPF, (RoS 6.49.7) only to find out that it was broken.

28:45 maybe you would need to set the VRFs exclusively for VRF interfaces other than MAIN - could be a thing btw. with [F6] you can hop through windows in a winbox session ;)

Hi there, I want to use OSPF + BDF for lets say two WAN links ( LTE and starlink) and connect them to a CHR router over wireguard. Over the wireguard will run L2TP transparently (not encrypted) mainly to have MRRU tools to massage MTU as necessary. The part I am having trouble with is setting up the OPSPF and BDF.

9:24 Hmmm... I did some tests a few weeks ago and there when I set a link down directly on the router OSPF is very fast to notice about it. Makes it a difference if the link goes down on the router itself or it goes down otherwise?

3:59 Wait! In OSPF when a link goes down it is very fast to route it over another way... For me the BFD there make sense only to message faster when a router is going down, not the interface is going down. And in BGP of course

The question is do you consider a few seconds to be very fast or a few miliseconds? BFD lets the forwarding engine know almost instantaneously if an interface where BFD is configured on is no longer receiving any messages and to consider it as down creating a much faster re-convergence of the network.

@@TheNetworkBerg in my tests when I click disable in the routerOS for the Interface it was very fast, unser or equal 1sec or so I think... But this is of course not the way a link goes down usually😅

@@m-electronics5977 but that's just it, in the real world you might have a cable coming into your MikroTik on an interface and between your MikroTik and whatever device it is connected to there is connectivity so interface doesn't go down and further down the line maybe 100 KMs away there is a problem and BFD can allow you to detect faults like that so that it will tell the router the interface isn't good to use.

@@TheNetworkBerg ya, that is what I also unterstand, I would only say this that when a link manually or otherwise set down on the router ospf reacts very fast

I new you like BFD support in ver 7.10. but how you fix wifi issue in hAP ax3 with version above 7.8? I can not use BFD with lossing wifi every couple of hours due to bug is wifiwave2.

MT is still working on the bug effecting Wifiwave2,, there is an alpha package they have given to users to test with on their discord but haven't seen any other news.

A bit off topic but does anyone know how to see the AS path of a received BGP route in version 7? Its a mystery to me! Or is it just not available to see yet? ta
@TheNetworkBerg
Жыл бұрын
Should be able to see the AS path via Winbox and double clicking on the BGP route you want more information on, then just navigate to the BGP tab and the AS Path is there.

@@TheNetworkBerg Hi do you know if it is possible to do this from command line? Because "ip r pr detail where dst-address=xxx" doesn't give bgp AS path and loading 2 million routes in winbox and applying filters to find the prefix makes winbox a bit wobbly. Thanks

I think the real question is, 'Would you be able to get it working with RoSv6?' I tried in December, but with no success, and there were a lot of complaints in the MikroTik forum about it.
