Watched this video and it was an interesting question. Why Justin Timberlake indeed did the movie?🤔 What he wanted to say with it? Where are the differences to his work as a singer? And about the translation: it's ALWAYS a problem, not only in Russia.😉 Mila Kunis is not fair in this way. I also speak Russian and would never accuse a reporter to translate wrong for political reasons. I think she forgot very fast the Iraq war and all the lies in New York Times and other papers and TV shows in the USA.😉 It's a problem everywhere.

my profession is interpreter and yes interpretation from translation is different, you really cant relay every single word from one party to another during an actual live conversation, and like Mila said, yes, its an interpretation not a translation, people tend to go off topic several times during a single sentence and its nearly impossible to relay that without confusing the other party, since they are confused themselves to gather a clean thought for us to relay for them LOL. But yeah some experienced interpreters obviously do a better job than the newer ones.

I speak Russian, but English is my primary language. I understand more Russian than I speak though (I know the words, but since I am not a native speaker it takes time to dredge up less used ones). Some kids on the bus were talking absolute smack about one of the other kids in Russian, while being nice and cheerful in English with that kid. When the Russian speaking kids got off the bus I explained to them, in Russian, that that kind of behavior is not tolerated on the bus. The look on their face was absolutely priceless.

The translation comment is spot on. I've done the job (spanish) and very few people do it right. Translators on boxing matches and live events often make mistakes or oversimplify due to not being fast enough, but what really pisses me off is bad translations in movies. They have the time, it's just laziness. To be fair, puns, idioms, or metaphors are hard to translate.
