Seat is just the original seat trimmed... I would recommend just buying a new one and selling the original unless yours is damaged as it wasn't cheap.

@lucasazeredo1
10 жыл бұрын
hey mate, I don t have much experience with the 125 but I recommend measuring your forks and buy clipons, or at least a clubman handlebar... also lower the forks and trim the seat to get a lower stand for the bike... then add a few touches like small blinkers etc. I hope this helps.
@Ek70R
10 жыл бұрын
it is that different then? :( well I`ll see what can I do, thanks for your help!, :) it is the same principle with the gn250 I guess :s
@lucasazeredo1

Ek70R yeah I believe the forks have a different size... so better to be safe... also change the speedo as the stock one is quite bulky... I recommend a mini speedo from bike shops/ebay...

Looks fun, how did dropping the forks so far effect the feel of the steeing and how the bike tuns in?
@lucasazeredo1
10 жыл бұрын
Hey there, its hard for me to say as I rode sports bike most of my time on wheels so it feels much more natural on a sports bike position than on a cruiser position, to me its much more responsive and natural to ride but I guess it will depend on your riding style.
@lawmand
10 жыл бұрын
Lucas Azeredo Thanks, Some bikes I have had are extremely sensitive to the fork/yoke position even a few mm. I may be getting a GN250 soon so have been looking around at peoples conversions..
@lucasazeredo1
10 жыл бұрын
The only thing you have to be aware is that if you drop the forks too low the yoke will hit the front fender so you either cut the fender or raise the yoke.
@lawmand
10 жыл бұрын
Lucas Azeredo Further to our last I bought one!!, in our (UK) climate it's not very nice cosmetically but it runs and everything works. Just wondered, roughly how much did you raise the tank? I presume it was just raised at the rear with long bolts and spacers.
@lucasazeredo1
10 жыл бұрын
that's right... I can't remember how much it was raised and I don't own the bike anymore I'm sorry, but around 5cm should work well.. more than that you risk hitting the tank with the top part of the forks... you also have to raise the front part of the seat.

Is it complicated installing the electrical part to the bike like the signal lights and the headlight or electric starter and so on
@lucasazeredo1
10 жыл бұрын
not really... depending on what turn signals you chose it will blink faster.. change the relay or put some resistors and the problem is fixed... the complicated part is the speedo with the harzzard lights... you will need the manual and follow the instructions manual that comes with the speedo... some basic electrical knowledge is necessary tho.

So that "horizontal look" you achieved on the tank was only by lowering the forks?
@lucasazeredo1
10 жыл бұрын
and raising the back part of the tank... don't raise it too much as you risk hitting the clipons/handlebar on the side of the tank when you turn...

How does it handle with the dropped forks? Thinking of doing something similar, and the internet is saying all different kind of things.
@lucasazeredo1
6 жыл бұрын
I always had sportsbikes, so to me, it handles much better.. just be careful not to lower it too much as you will get the exhaust headers hitting the back of the front fender (hence they cut it shorter), hope this helps.

Hey man, just wondering if you trimmed the seat yourself ? Would the trimming and reupholstering of the seat be one of the more costly aspects of the restoration ?
@lucasazeredo1
10 жыл бұрын
Hi Rich, I didn't do it myself, I have no tools or skills haha.. but you could try... as for the costs, it cost me around $200 and the original seat was used as a base so its not very expensive at all if you consider the final look it adds to the bike. as a single part I would say it was the most expensive part added, you're right.

That's awesome man... I definitely think this is the coolest GN250 I've seen, followed at a distance by the "Dyno Garage" one another youtuber put up. I'm sorry for all the questions I'm about to ask but prior to watching this video and the dyno garage one I was adverse to touching my bike... now I just want to make it special haha. i have a 2007 gn250 exactly the same as this one - trademe.tmcdn.co.nz/photoserver/tq/314693838.jpg I'm still trying to figure out what you did to your seat, did you shave off the rise for the pillion passenger and the extra width around the front of the seat ? Would I need to see a bikes customs specialist or did you just see a general reupholsterer ? I'm super impressed man, and thanks for your time replying to these comments.

@lucasazeredo1

hey mate, clipons were from China, I have used them previously and as long as you have the measurements they are strong enough and cheap as! spedometer I bought on ebay, get the ones with the warning lights, they are a bit more expensive but worth the money, they still cheap unders $100 dollars.. the tail light came with the bike and I think its from a TU250 if I'm not wrong but I would have changed for a small LED light otherwise that you can also find online. I hope this helps. Please Like or subscribe for more videos and thanks again for the comment :)
