The CO has only seen it once in his 26 years of service says it all. Very rare, very special and that solider is definitely due her promo. Great vid and congrats Sergeant Keller.

This is just awesome! I love the subterfuge and the surprise element of a promotion. You can see the humility of those that havent been tipped off. What a great tradition!

Nothing beats the feeling of a Brig. General saluting you first, right before he gives you another stripe. You’re on top of the world!!

Grear job. As spaniard I envy how deeply your nation loves their men an women that serve to defend the USA. Sadly, in Spain neither our goverment nor part of our population feel the same for our troops. That's why I envy you. Congratullations❤

Congratulations Jessie-I couldn't think of anyone more deserving. God bless-we're so proud of you. Sorry, I had to use my son's You Tube account to comment but I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Love you-Lisa Kraemer from the BSC at Luke.

What does the punch on the arm mean I have seen these promotions before and nearly always they get a light punch.

It is just tradition. Not sure where it started. Typically the ranking officers will only give a light tap to keep tradition, but if there are other closely ranked personnel, they get fairly aggressive. Especially the men. I have seen some people get fairly badly bruised from being punched 15-20 times in the shoulder. Look up 'blood wings'. A similar process for when an airman gets his wings.

It's called "tacking on" and started originally with Pilots getting their wings. It got out of hand in many places and is actually banned by the USAF now. With the exception of a light tap from the commander and senior NCO when the promotion is presented. It was never meant to be getting "punched around the squadron" and was only meant to be done equal or higher ranks. Some video's show a guy walking a line of airmen getting punched, that's a big no no.

I may be wrong, but I doubt that her job can be performed by an officer.
