A clear night in early August means one of two things: the Perseid meteor shower and (when there is a new moon) good viewing of the Milky Way. August brings clear weather (usually) but the dew can fall and light fog can roll in after about 2 AM.

For Time lapse sequence: 10 second exposure + 4 second pause; 90 minute duration between 12:30 and 2:00 AM.
