You can have a bit of mercy here. They were tempted, and they fell for that temptation. They admitted to their weakness and greed, however they were tormented by the lies, and frustrated by the industry's control. Yes they were wrong, but so was everyone else involved. A poor kid coming from the projects thought the American dream of fame and fortune would bring him salvation, he was deceived and spent the rest of his life tortured by it, which finally led to suicide. It's a sad thing. He didn't deserve that but it was unfortunately a consequence of that temptation.

I think the public and media were both really naive to the reality of the music industry. It was a super common practice in 80's European dance music to have a model on the album cover instead of the studio musician behind the scenes. The Milli Vanilli situation really wasn't anything new in that sense but it was the first one to get that kind of attention, probably because of the Grammy.

Milli Vanillin will always be iconic legends and their music will live on in the hearts of the 80’s era no matter what anybody says. RIP to Rob, he deserved better, they both deserved better. If they could reunite today and put on a show now, the house would be jam packed, I have no doubt. It's criminal what Frank did to these guys. Their voices were good enough, not great, but good enough considering the music in most songs often hides a lot of imperfections in even today's songs. The fans loved the music, but they loved Rob and Fab (the image) more, the songs would have still been big hits. Lip synching Boney M was understandable, but there was no excuse for what was done to Fab and Rob. Frank could have and should have handled the whole thing with respect for these guys and the real singers, to which he most certainly did NOT! Today this wouldn't be such a big deal, we have bands that do not have a real image to the singing.. eg: Gorillaz.

I was 2 years old when "Milli Vanilli" was at its peak, I knew something about the story, but I have recently seen the documentary, some videos, read articles, and seen this. I have never seen any living (nor deceased) celebrity who has had the courage like those two at this conference to stand in front of all these people, the media, without any management, PR experts, or even lawyers, and answer the questions, the accusations, the palpable contempt, for something that wasn't a murder or robbery. They were almost kids, and even so, they admitted their wrongdoing (which was probably any of us would have done in their shoes), credited real voices, and showed they had an ambition and will to work on themselves, to become real artists, and to stand behind the songs. To know that poor Rob died due to that pressure and to see them on the video, with talent that could have been polished to perfection... so sad, so tragic, and I am glad that today, at least Fabrice is here to be apologized to...

It’s so sad how the world ridiculed them and shamed them and they were clearly taken advantage of. Seems all the blame went to Rob and Fab and then Frank Farrian and Clive Davis weren’t being held accountable for being the real snakes and crooks?! I remember all the jokes and people making fun of them when this happened. They were young and taken advantage of period. They said they wanted to sing and Frank kept saying no! Frank had the older group with the sound he wanted but not the look like Rob and Fab had being very handsome, young and dancers and entertainers. He knew the older group with the sound wouldn’t got anywhere near the stardom Rob and Fab got. Frank’s scheme blew up in his face then these guys got the blame! And Clive was on the bandwagon to cash in! Music industry is cut throat and the guys needed a good team and lawyers that could read contracts and the fine print and really handled their business like it should’ve been. These guys could sing just didn’t have the same sound as the other singers. They just didn’t get a chance to redeem themselves which is sad. The journalists and news media is horrible as well with their treatment and trying to get them to sing on the spot?! They already heard the tapes of them singing. Wish people could’ve kept an open mind about it but unfortunately most didn’t. Rob and Fab will always be Milli Vanilli …lip sync or not in my opinion.
