I'm a 62 year old white woman who's loved Millie since the 70's. I went to one of her concerts in the late 70's in Opelousas, Louisiana, and my group of 4 were the only white people in the building (that we saw)! It was the best concert I've ever attended. I've been telling my friends about her ever since.

Got you big sis, on point. As a grown up 👩, now got you, I understand. Lesson learned ,point taken. Thank you for awareness, even though we learned hard way. All said, well taken, still repeating same thing. Music damn good, doesn't miss a point. Thank you, for such a message well received, childhood memories. Now I'm listening, hearing and understanding. Still sounds good, reminds of childhood memories.

Facts but they watch too much tv 📺 today and not learning to listen on a record player 🎞️, music like this has to be listened to on vinyl, in a room where you can be quiet and think. This is what the last two generations are gravely missing. The needle to the record ritual!

Raw Millie at her very best on this song. I had this song since around 1978 and will always love it to death. She tells it like it T-I -IS. Saw her at the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC a few years ago and she came right out on stage and let the women have it. She told them, "Don't go trying to push up on Barack Obama, because Michelle got that shit covered." Classic Millie and no one does it better than she can.

I remember this from 1977 - I was a mere 25 years old. Sitting with friends in a candle-lit room tokin' on a number with the volume a little bit too high ... Her vocal performances had long, humorous and explicit spoken sections in her music--she started doing on stage to get the attention of the audience. And it even worked in the recordings, too. Never failed to crack us up. Good times they were!

Millie was a great singer that wasn't afraid to say what she felt and what life had thrown her way but it amaze me that when the rappers put out an cd, they get banned or even sued but nevertheless, Millie is the QUEEN of TELLING IT LIKE IT IS

+Gregory Clark Probably because Millie Jackson, unlike many rap " artists" never felt the need to cuss and swear and routinely describe women as "hoes" etc etc. Humourous rather than outright offensive and trashy.

Millie's songs are educational and timeless . I grew up with all the albums she produced , attended all local performances. I got hooked around age 14, my mama played her music throughout my youth. Still listening and liking in 2020..

At a time with the radio airwaves were wall-to-wall disco, along came this one toward the end of '77, and you stopped and listened to every word, sung and spoken. "While he got you laying there lyin', talkin' 'bout how good it is cause you know the rent is due and he must pay it"-this was truth-telling on some whole new level! Even conservative Stereo Review took notice and gave the album a forceful endorsement. Passing time will never diminish it.
