It grows in a very small area in the Pacific Northwest. I don’t have any around my house but 25 miles away at my companie’s office it’s growing like weeds. The first one I ever milled (pictured in the video) was a dead-stand and already pretty dry. The wood had many different colors in it. Grays, blues, reds and browns. Any hardwood needs to air dry to below 20% before you kiln dry it. The air drying part of this wood is where most of the movement will happen. Once it’s below 20%, it should have done all the twisting it’s going to do.

Thank you! I’ll be honest. The only Madrone I’ve had luck with was from a tree that had been dead for o long time before it was taken down. If you’re going to mill a green log, definitely seal the ends and saw much thicker than you’re going to use so you have room to resaw the warp out of it. I’ll comment again with a link to a resaw video I made.
