No doubt the hotel resort we stayed at is plunged into darkness. Its like 1905 rural Mississippi down there. No public phones, there is nowhere to get juice, food, medicine, no bank machines, nowhere at all. Just nondescript hotels that only sell rum in US dollars and water if its available, which I am sure by now its all gone. I only hope that our fellow Canadian travelers we left behind are safe? but in that heat and humidity? I love Cuba but after my fifth trip, and first since 2018. Comrade, socialism is not going to work, ever. Even the Chinese told the Cubans this very thing: "China publicly supports Cuba’s right to choose its own path to economic development “in line with its national conditions”, but privately Chinese officials have long urged the Cuban leadership to shift from its vertically planned economy to something closer to the Chinese model, according to economists and diplomats briefed on the situation. Chinese officials have been perplexed and frustrated at the Cuban leadership’s unwillingness to decisively implement a market-oriented reform programme despite the glaring dysfunction of the status quo, the people said."

The blockades against Cuba means they grow predominantly organic crops. As for Cuba '...entering the Dark Age' C4 should really look at the impact climate and ecological impacts will have on water, food, energy, soils, migration etc, the rest of the world isn't that far behind. C4s pyrrhic politicisation is short lived.

Yawn.......boring, I don't think so Greta, Cuba is run by incompetent communists who manage to spend everyone else's money until it's all gone and nothing to show for it, like all communists!?!

C4 knows well that a fair proportion of their viewers will assume that it is the US punishing a smaller nation for no logical reason. Also, notice that the only vox pop was of a person making light of the dufficulty. They do not interview a person who might be critical of the cuban government, even secretly. They will say that this is because they would be denied access to report cuba which is true but they do not explain this to their viewers.

@@adude9882 not even that because of the cuban government the system they have (communism) has it's worst internal embargo blocks cubans from producing enough value to trade with other countries. You know why because cubas biggest trading block partners are the west

We'll blame the enemy of our own failures, Vladimir Lenin. Cuba is in the darkness of Communism since 1959. Culparemos al enemigo de nuestros propios errores, Vladimir Lenin. Cuba esta en la oscuridad del comunismo desde 1959.
