Milo - The Action Communicator
Talk to your friends while you're biking, surfing, or skiing.
Well, that's the advertising blurb but how does it pan out in the real world. 3 Milos mounted on the handlebars of 3 bikes and recorded on a naked GoPro Hero 11. No special Mic or dead cat and what you hear is actually better in the real world.
Milo claim up to 600m range with the ability to increase range with 3 or more acting as repeaters off of each other. In fairly open country the range claim is about right but buildings and forest reduce the range as does a difference in altitude but that is to be expected.
Denise is not that confident on a bicycle but being able to easily communicate with her improves both of our enjoyment immensely.
No buttons to press once in use, just talk normaly, easily paired, easily reconnects when turned on or back in range, clear speech with no false activations and after 3 hours in use they still had 70% battery remaining. Wind noise can be an issue, not with the Milo itself but actually across your ears making any sound other than the roar of the wind difficult to hear. There is an Audio Boost function which will overcome this but it also uses more battery. The Milo can also be connected to a bluetooth headset but again that will increase battery consumption. Slowing down or turning your ears out of the wind also works.
While not cheap, even my wife thinks they are a great investment and she usually has an intense dislike of my Tech passion.
Hopefully the next Software/Firmware update will address this along with a range boost:
