Sacrifical Dance
From the solo choreodrama THE RITE OF STRAVINSKY: On the Acceptance of Imperfection
Devised & performed by MILOS SOFRENOVIC
Produced by NOMUS (International festival of classical music) @ Novi Sad, Serbia
ARTISTIC STATEMENT :
Solo choreodrama “ON THE ACCEPTANCE OF IMPERFECTION” ( The Rite of Stravinsky ) establishes its “dramaturgical timeline” through possible interconnection between 17th century English composer Henry Purcell, 20th century Russian composer Igor Stravinsky and 21st century Colombian composer Antonio Correa.
This interconnection is based on the following questions:
1. How do we perceive or execute revolutions today ?
2. How do we change things without destroying them?
3. How do we take care that our approach to cultural heritage is not destructive or based
on ignorance?
4. How do we deal with the acceptance of our own imperfection without escaping into
constructed lies ?
5. How do we accept ageing without becoming less enthusiastic about life?

"The funny thing about revolutions is that you never know when or where they are going to start. They can be social, political or artistic. Very often it happens that these artistic revolutions, cultural revolutions, or revolutions in taste actually seem to predict other violent changes in the society.”
( Michael Tilson Thomas on the revolutionary world première of "The Rite of Spring" by Igor Stravinsky, performed on May 29th, 1913. at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris )
Question: What do you consider as the lowest depth of misery?
Answer: Living in fear.
( David Bowie )
