Old but still relevant. It's overheating because you have the string out too much. This is even a problem with gas as it will shorten the life and have a higher temperature. On your video with the 1.5, the battery voltage was sagging from the heavy load causing the BMS to cut power. How tall are you? Wondering if the tool will fit as I'm 6' 2".

I have the same problem with the overheating but not with the edger attachment, only with the string trimmer attachment. I've been experimenting with line size from .80, .95 and .105. I did change out my cutting head to a SHINDAIWA heavy duty fixed line head and right now I have it set up in the 4 line configuration using the .95 line size. I also contribute the overheating to too much load and that's why I went to the fix line head which I use on all of my gas power string trimmers because I can get a close cut on my lawn since that's the way I like it. I also use this fix line head because it's a whole lot lighter than the bump feed head that comes with the trimmer. I use the .95 line because it last a lot longer than the .80 but not as heavy as the .105 line. In this configuration, it still overheats but if I'm careful with the throttle, I can go a whole 25 minutes + and cut my whole front yard before the battery goes dead. At times it will overheat and start the cutting out crap which bothers me. So not sure if it's my battery came defected, or the thermal protection circuit board in the power head could be defected or just an overheating problem which I got most of it resolved by making the few changes to the head. I tried cutting my line shorter and that helps but then your cutting swath is so small, not practical to do but I do keep it on the shorter length (shorter than what the Milwaukee's length is). Now I'm just going to set up my fixed head to the 2 line configuration and see what happens. If it still overheats, I'll just have to watch how I use the throttle because it can cut now and drain the battery down without overheating if I'm careful in how I use it. before when I got it new, it was terrible with the overheating problem. As far as the edger and hedge trimmer attachments, they will run until my battery is drained, no problems with those attachments at all. I'm using the 8.0 XC High Output battery that came with it. Love the power that this unit has, much more than I thought it would have. Hedge trimmer is a little heavy for tall growth over 7 feet but all in all, great unit except for the overheating which in my case, it's practically resolved now with the head change and line length.

I have the same issue with it over heating. My observation is that when too much string is out it tends to do that. I notice you don't have the shield and cutter on weed-eater attachment. When I keep the string within a certain length I have no issues with over heating.

Edger works great, down fall, having a drier lawn, creates giant dust clouds and covers everything, hence why you need to buy the Milwaukee leaf blower.

If you are having over heating issues after several usage or multiple back to back head switching then you need to get and use any of the High Output batteries.

@@PeeweesLawnCare the high output 8ah is your best compromise for weight to runtime. I feel the 12ah is too heavy. I would rather have 2 6ah or 2 8ah vs 112ah batt.

They just banned gas powered edgers and leaf blowers in my city. Looks like I’ll be getting the Milwaukee! Which is great because I have a whole set of of M18 series tools!

Maybe cuz u bought it from a second hand person, could be a knockoff, could be defective, maybe stolen. But nobody sells something that’s brand new sealed for half of what the store sells it for unless there’s something wrong

Put the guard on the weed eater and your overheating will most likely go away. Weed eater is having to work harder without the guard that keeps string length to minimize damage to motor and battery.

Hey man I just took back my ECHO SRM 266 and purchased the Milwaukee with Quick Attachment setup. It came with the edger and a M18 8.0AH High Output battery and Rapid charger for the same price as my 266. That 8.0 battery goes for $199 alone and that’s the issue. The Milwaukee outdoor equipment will only run properly when using High Output batteries. Otherwise they overheat and give very little run time. I’d suggest you borrow a 8.0 or 12.0 to see the difference and if you like it then you’d know. Milwaukee makes more off batteries than actual tools. Since I have multiple 8’s now and a 12 after calculating gas and the heat that comes off the high end echo’s I decided to go ahead and switch. I’ll save $200 a year minimum on fuel alone and no warm up time. Also it feels less like work with the Milwaukee. That 266 is ok but you definitely better cover up well and it’s definitely a work feel to it. The work is no problem but the way it slings grass is and at high speeds. The guard is less than adequate.

Once you get a 8.0 or above you can try the blower. I have the blower and it’s as strong as the echo backpack blowers. Right at 500 cfm’s and 120 mph speed. Again no warm up and ramp up time. Just grab and go.

@@PeeweesLawnCare bigger and make sure they say “High Output” on the battery itself, the ones you’re using on this video are good but “high output” batteries are better in my opinion.
