I'm thinking of picking one of these up. I've been watching a lot of Yvan Lacroix's (DIY Detail) KZitem videos and I'd like to try his method of finishing with a rotary; soft waffle pad, very low machine speed (400 rpm or whatever the machine's lowest speed is), and no pressure. He doesn't use the side grip, and to watch him use a rotary (sometimes one-handed) is pretty impressive. I tried a Rupes rotary once, didn't like it at all. Too tall and it wasn't very well balanced, which is something I've never experienced with any other Rupes machines. Its too fast for this method of polishing too.

Interesting as I find the Rupes rotary very comfortable and stable, much more than this Milwaukee one but I need more machine time to see if it is worth using long term. Refining at slower speeds is common practice for both DA and rotary but too slow a speed at it becomes very inefficient. The Milwaukee is long and heavy, but I want to tackle a big job before deciding if it's worth keeping. Hopefully it doesn't end up in the bag with the Mille collecting dust.

Thank you for this practical review! I'm about to buy it but now I'm rethink since I always do heavy correcting. Cordless is future yes I agree but for the moment I think I'll stay on the cord until there's significant improvement on battery durability. And the price of battery itself is not cheap as well.

Cordless has been working well but I’m only polishing a couple cars a month. It takes two machines and four batteries to keep things moving. I’m curious on the battery degradation as that’ll change things quickly.

@@nc.detail sadly two machines and four batteries costs a lot. Do you feel any declining performance when battery in let's say, 20%?

I hear you. Rupes starts to lose power in the last 5 or so minutes. Rotary lasts longer as it’s more efficient motion and don’t notice any power loss. Nothing wrong with corded machines.

Awesome review on the Milwaukee rotary. Wonder if they purposely made it heavy because it was rumored that the original Milwaukee rotary was a heavy machine.

The battery is heavy but the real test is doing a full car next month.

Nice review man!! There was one at the pawn shop a few weeks ago.. I kinda regret not buying it.. I was in the fence at the time..I had just placed my pre order for the new Rupes. I might go back and see if its still there. Cordless is definitely the way to go👍🏻

I'm not sold on the battery idea yet and want to do a heavy correction to see if it's practical. I'm not used to the length and weight compared to the nimble Rupes rotary. I like how Rupes is including a power cable which will likely get more use than the batteries and have a 21 on pre-order too. I pitched my EGO mower as the batteries degraded so much over a couple years that it took five batteries to cut the yard so I'm a bit pessimistic on the true production use for these machines.

Hey 2 questions, neither of which are related to the polisher. Where do you get your clear buckets, and what type of wheel barrel brushes do you typically prefer?

For the buckets, google food service containers. They’re 12 quart/ 3 gal size. Or detail division has branded ones but they’re the same bucket. For the brushes, I like wheel woolies or the ez detail wheel brush.
