Good call on the driving, if your driving slow and there’s a bike lane or parking lane on the right just know that is used as a passing lane. Lots of accidents in the city.

As a former Milwaukee resident I can tell you that the garbage days move with the holidays. Like you said it was Mondays for April and May then Tuesday in June, Memorial Day moved it. Then Wednesday in July and August, Independence Day. And Thursday in September, Labor Day.

You guys are really adorable and funny…Thanks for the laughs.😊 Just discovered your fun and informative channel during a search on Chicago. We are seriously thinking about moving to the Chicago suburbs from the PNW but we’re just not sure. We need to change things up. Husband is a Chicago native but hasn’t lived there since he left for college. Noticed you recently moved to Milwaukee. Did y’all need to change things up too? Question…After all your travels, is there anywhere you would move to, if money or work was of no issue, because you love it so much?

Such a hard question to answer. Places we loved visiting (e.g. Egypt) are not necessarily places we would want to live in. As we're getting older, we want more quiet, hence the move to Milwaukee. Therefore money wouldn't be an issue because expensive bustling cities are a thing of the past for us two. We hope you guys figure things out. What we can say is that your money would go much further in Chicago than in the PNW. We don't of any city of that size that is so affordable.

@@JamesandLaurent Thanks for the response. The PNW is so expensive it’s shocking. Our property taxes went up 30% last year. We pay 50 cents for an organic carrot here. We have been researching a move for years and years now, and love hearing other couple’s thoughts and discoveries. We constantly change our minds because nowhere seems to be a perfect fit so we are now deciding what’s most important to us. Our priorities are safety, lower cost of living, good hospitals nearby, a paved walking path for a good one hour walk, and nearby cultural attractions. Seems like basic asks but learning it’s asking a lot, lol. We ruled out the southern states once we realized how hot and buggy the summers are and will continue to get as climate change worsens the heat and brings more bug-born disease. So, Milwaukee is on our list, along with Des Moines, Salt Lake, Missoula, Columbus, Kansas City. Did any other cities make your list? You two are much more adventurous travelers than we are so we’ll have to live vicariously through your fun videos!☺️

What surprises me is you moved to Milwaukee. You have given Milwaukee a certain cache it previously lacked. I would have thought if the Upper Midwest was on your radar, you would have chosen Madison. If not Minneapolis. You two seem very Madisonian to me, however. It was my choice after living in NYC, Chicago, and CD MX. I’m now in Baraboo-a tiny city that definitely deserves a top 10 list from you sometime. Sometime in an early Summer…. There’s a senior LGBT housing place in MKE I’ve always been meaning to check out, but then I think, but it’s MKE. Really? Your having chosen the city will certainly cause me to re-evaluate. Thanks for your videos, very enjoyable.

Madison was on our radar too, along with several other cities. We have quite a few friends there. At the end of the day, Madison was too small, too far from Chicago, and the airport situation was problematic for us. Milwaukee was the best compromise we found. So far, so good :)

Probably less so than in Chicago, but yes: Thai, Ethiopian, Middle Eastern, etc.

Great video, just need to pick a bone with the garbage/alley thing. Most, but not all of Milwaukee has alleys just like Chicago.

Milwaukee is mainly only hilly near the lake and 85% of the city has alleys for trash collection.. The lower Eastside is kind of a city of it's own

Chicago is more exciting than Milwaukee. Agreed! But there are tons of bars in Chicago too and the bar scene is one of the best aspects of the city. As far as gorgeous is concerned, downtown hands down better in Chicago. But the lakefront is a lot prettier in Milwaukee. Everybody will find what they like in each city.

Violent crime in Chicago is still concentrated in a few areas of the city, but it is true that it is now more widespread in areas like Lincoln Park or River North that used to be more or less immune until recently. It's still a great city.

About the trashcan thing that may be depending on where you live I have been living here for years in Milwaukee and we just take the trash to the trashcan don’t have to roll anything out
