So beautiful! Mimi was a highly gifted multitalented artist and wrote or co-wrote several stellar songs. RIP Mimi and thank you for the music 💖✨

Tom Jans died in 1984 after suffering a serious motorcycle accident the year before and poor Richard Farina died in a motorcycle accident in 1966, Such tragedy. We lost Mimi in 2001 and I still treasure all those Richard and Mimi Farina's classics: A Swallow Song, Bold Marauder, Children of Darkness and the Raven.

I met Mimi in Ipswich MA at Stonehenge Coffee House in 1965. I didn’t know then that she was Joan’s sister. Mimi was so sweet and I’ll never forget that time talking to her there. It was a year later that she lost Richard.

I was there (at twelve!) at the Berkeley Community Theater for Cat Stevens on the _Teaser and the Firecat_ tour, with the marvelous animated film he made for "Moonshadow" -- _that_ must be how Mimi Farina's song rang out so strong in memory when I found it here years ago. It was a time of cataclysmic deaths, from overdoses, plane crashes, assassinations, demonstrations, the war... I always feel the best response to this song is to sing out loud with it, for those we could not keep with us and those we would, so we may do our best to recognize and act before it is too late -- ❤️ _She once walked right at my side_ _I'm sure she walked by you_ 🥀

Saw one of her rare performances in June 1984 at the Canal Street Tavern in Dayton, Ohio. Seated up front, with a very calm 8-month old, we were able to speak between sets. Mimi made it a point to be introduced to the baby: “And who is THIS?” She held my daughter’s gaze and hand, admiring and commenting on her poise (“This is SOMEBODY!”😅-and she liked her dress (yard sale find), with its black vest covered in, of course, roses. “Give us bread, but give us roses, too.”

BEAUTIFUL SONG!!! I've only knew the version of an argentine/italian singer named Silvana Di Lorenzo, in a 45's B-side. I was always guessing it was a cover of a beautiful song. The spanish version is called "En La Paz del Dia"

So was I. I was a student @ BC 64-68. We would see her and Dick Farina @ the Club 47 in Cambridge. For u youngsters, she wrote this song and is Joan Baez's younger sister. In those days Bob Dylan and his girlfriend Joan would drop in @ the Club 47 and play a song or 2. They were both very unassuming and mellow. Both were very short, Bob maybe 5'6", Joan maybe 5'2". Hippies and folk music This is a great tune. Hard to beat Hoyt on "Bony Fingers".

In the quiet morning There was much despair And in the hours that followed No one could repair That poor girl Tossed by the tides of misfortune Barely here to tell her tale Rolled in on a sea of disaster Rolled out on a mainline rail She once walked right at my side I'm sure she walked by you Her striding steps could not deny Torment from a child who knew That in the quiet morning There would be despair And in the hours that followed No one could repair

@LorKite It wasn't her "reputation" that she created for herself that killed her.. it was the emotional demons that plagued her ....from whose clutches she could not break free.....a recovering addict myself I know wounds that send you to the arms of addiction for solace from your pain. Her tragedy is the gift of music is one of the most cathartic outlets of a tortured soul ..... RIP Amy.... you are free from the grip of addiction, but in the saddest of ways.........
