There is no increase in mass when something approaches the speed of light. It is a concept of relativistic mass in which mass is multiplied by the gamma function (present in theory of relativity of E=MC^2). Mass does NOT increase or does NOT become infinite at the speed of light. Bottom line: actual mass is NOT equal to relativistic mass.
@pamtam1
Жыл бұрын
Don't take your education from these guys. They don't know about cosmic issues or physics. Relativistic mass is a childish way of trying to make young children to be introduced to the theory of relativity. Mass does NOT increase with increase in speed while approaching the speed of light.
@sarvothamshetty4433
Жыл бұрын
It is not really increasing its mass. A simple way to understand this to first understand that acceleration and mass are interchangeable. This is counter-intuitive at first. But think what happens when you go close to a large body with immense gravity - time slows down. Time dilation also happens as you approach the speed of light. Like two sides of an equation, this is called the equivalence principle in general relativity - gravitational and inertial mass are interchangeable. Since time is dilated by increasing speeds this is almost like the object is building a field of gravity around itself as it gets closer to the speed of light. And since this is inversely proportional to (c - speed of object), as speed of object approaches c, the inertial mass is infinite and you will need infinite energy to accelerate this which breaks the laws of physics. Hence c is the speed limit of the universe.
@pamtam1
Жыл бұрын
This guy @Sarvotham Shetty , has also explained well from another point of view. I will just add that c, speed of light need not necessarily be derived from Einstein's equation of e=mc^2. This may add to confusion for many people who are interested in the fundamental way of knowing about the speed of light. Maxwell's equations dealing with permittivity and permeability in free space (vacuum) gives the most fundamental way of understanding the speed of light. This is a more fundamental way of understanding the speed of light. Speed of light could also be looked into through the c as in "Causality". Any event to take place in the Universe across light years away CANNOT happen "instantaneously" but they have to happen after a finite moment of time which is restricted by c, speed of light according to Einstein's theory of relativity under space-time framework of bending time and space being mutually changeable except that time ALWAYS moves Only in forward direction unlike space that can move in positive and negative directions in all three dimensions. With NO causality and NO restriction on speed of light, all other laws of physics simply break down because then it means that any two events can happen simultaneously and then "Time" as we know breaks down. Then, there will be NO before or after. Then, the things that are supposed to happen after a cause will end up happening before the cause itself. This could lead to chaos of our understanding of everything that we know about physics. Just a small caveat of the above. In 2022, this year, physics nobel prize was handed to an experiment that goes against Einstein's understanding of a "deterministic" Universe of simultaneity. The nobel prize showed experiments that there could be an entanglement of two instantaneously produced particles having opposite spins and one can determine the spin of the other particle beyond light years once we determine spin of the first particle, meaning instantaneously, faster than the speed of light. But of course the speed of light for moving particles (and everything else) is STILL INTACT. So the restrictions of speed of light through Maxwell's equations of permittivity and permeability through free space (vacuum) STILL hold and are accepted as true.

You did not get it. The people who propose the Big Bang theory, say that "Space" itself was created at the point when the big bang started. So according to them there is "NOTHING" outside of this creation of space that the created "Space" could actually propagate into. And According to them, this "NOTHING" does NOT mean empty space. Remember empty space is being created by the Big Bang itself within the confines of the Universe. Hence According to the Big Bang theory, the question of asking about "NOTHING" outside the created "space" is meaningless. Exactly in the same way according to the big bang theory asking a question what was before big bang is also meaningless because according to the theory there was NO "time or space or spacetime" hence there was NO "before" the big bang. Hence According to the theory there is also NO specific central point of propagation either because, remember, there was NO "space" to begin with. According to the theory "Space" itself started to be created with the beginning of the big bang.

I think your assumption is wrong here. Let me explain what the expansion of the universe means. Expansion means that the space present across the universe is itself expanding. So even in Andromeda will collide with us, at a certain point in time in the future, even the space between the atoms in our body will get expanded to a level that we will not be able to exist. So, it is not the relative speed that you measure, but the expansion acceleration of the spacetime itself. Using that value and assuming the acceleration to be constant, astrophysicists determine the age of the universe. Let me know if it helps!!

Relativistic mass becomes infinite because, relativistic mass = Lorentz factor × rest-mass, now lorentz factor[1/√(1-v/c)] becomes infinity when velocity of the mass is equal to light velocity. Cause v/c=1. So 1-v/c = 0 now square root of 0 is also 0. So, 1/0=0. If you are running with the speed of light with respect to me, you yourself will feel you are at rest mass. But, with respect to me your relative mass will become infinite.

The reason why mass gets heavier and heavier as it approaches light speed is explained beautifully by this amazing equation which everyone is familer with. It's E=mc squared. If you rearrange the equation you get c squared = E/m. Now we all know speed of light is constant which means, when you keep increasing the energy, the mass increases as well to keep the resulting ratio of E/m equal to c squared. Secondly even now the space-time itself is expanding faster than speed of light and , which means we are in some way travelling faster than light. And thirdly it's not impossible to break universal speed limit, all we need is some negative energy which I know is purely Theorital, but if we have access to, we can go faster than light without breaking a sweat!!
@sarvothamshetty4433

An intuitive way to understand this is to first understand that acceleration and mass (gravitational mass) are interchangeable. This is counter-intuitive at first. Since time is dilated by increasing speeds this is almost like the object is building a field of gravity around itself as it gets closer to the speed of light (intuitively speaking). And since this inertial mass is inversely proportional to (1 - speed of object^2 / c^2), if speed of object becomes c, the inertial mass is infinite and you will need infinite energy to accelerate this which breaks the laws of physics. Hence c, the speed of light is the speed limit of the universe.

😐🤔🤐🤫😆🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 😶😶😶 Anyone believing this nonsense is just as likely to believe in God. It was neither. No big bang, no god. Accept the fact that we are because we were created by other life forms long before us and the subsequent will happen with other life that we create and manipulate when and after we are wiped out, beit by our own doing or the cycle of the cosmos..... Enjoy and help enjoy to fulfill what life we are given
