Thank you! This was an excellent tutorial.Programming worked perfectly. We've been trying to get a proportional line follower to work. Your program was by far the easiest to follow and your explanations were clear and made how it works make sense. I'm sharing your tutorial link with other new EV3 coaches. Many thanks.

If you are using a darker tape instead of yellow seen in the video, say, blue or black like I did, you either reverse the < or > signs or put different range values.

Great video! We used the logic in the second part of the video, and our robot is only making right-hand turns !!! We thought that with the -1 that the value sent to the steering would steer into the correct direction. Are we missing something ??? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I am line following on a white line at 90 light intensity. My line follower eventually jumps off the line and turns a circle. I am using -2 in the advanced math block at 25 percent power. It is very jumpy--not smooth like yours at all. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

The difficulty with the Lego EV3 on this kind of problem is its execution rate is so slow. Doing complex algorithms slows the control loop down and compromises the effectiveness of the smarter routine.

My Blocks is basically the section where you program in either python or the required software( i guess it's python, most probably) and make your own blocks with the functions not present in the given standard blocks. For example, you can program a block which says your name, or any word, which is not there in the given lego soundtracks.
