I remember the IDSU! Nowadays it's a lot more simpler to make power and store it. No one manages their power anymore because it actually requires effort. I've played FTB Ultimate before and I didn't even know this existed. Most modpacks don't include IC2 because of the complexity and non-compatible with most other mods. I'm currently working on a modpack and I'm going to make sure that everyone has a chance to make things like these. Bravo!
@Thorinair

I adore IC2 still! I always put it in my packs. They recently finally re-enabled machine explosions, which were disabled for a long time. I would also suggest you to look into my own mod, HEXCraft, it is a pretty complex mod, even if it doesn't have too many features for now. The power system lets you do some pretty unique stuff. It also brings back blocks with similar style like XyCraft! :P

I cant express how much I despise mod videos where a guy is trying to show off a mod, and powers his machines with a creative energy cell (for EACH machine). So when you copy it in your own world, 100% survival of course, and you flick the lever that is supposed to make everything happen.... BANG. Your entire base's energy supply zapped in under half a second. The machine you are trying to run has completed 0.1% of a single cycle. Ive lost track of the number of times that has happened to me!

Highly enjoyable to watch. Reminds me of better days when i would spend all the day on server with this particular modpack. One thing that bugs me though is that you use a myst craft world. I think there was a fuel option for the fusion reactor that was craftable with the use of tier 5 soulshard spawners. I remember in my own build that the only thing i could not produce from spawners were certus quartz. Still, amazing job making it all look so nice, the computercraft stuff is mind boggling, even if its really just for show. I might just have to play with the pack again some day.

Surprising to still see GT4 being played. Also on your MFSU grid all of those connected cables causes a lot of unnecessary pathfinding computation. It's good practice to get around this by dying the cables. You should give GT5U a shot. 3 tiers of fusion (I stopped after making the second tier) with potential for constant net gain setups of 300 kEU/t (Be+D using mass fabs). i.imgur.com/bF8NTGI.png Very pretty build. I especially like the water floor concept. Functionally it would be more in place in a fission room but it makes for a really slick aesthetic. Also that's one fancy CC monitoring program.
@Arm4g3dd0nX

I never knew what went into making a large power generator in the early modded Minecraft days. In modern modpacks you just slap some yellorium, graphite, steel, cryotheum and resonant ender together and you've got more power than you know what to do with, and then you toss that power into laser drills and atomic multipliers and you'll have enough materials to build anything you like without ever having to leave your base again. That all doesn't seem NEARLY as epic as what you have created here Thorinair. That fc.lua program is also incredibly impressive. I tried to fuddle around with one of the many programming mods and understood none of it. Heck, all that power storage is impressive too. Now you can jumble together a handful of induction cells into an induction matrix and store about a trillion EU in a compact 5x5x5 form. It's convenient I'll say that for sure, but there's no incentive to make vast battery arrays or huge multi-story batteries that dwarf the rest of your base.

It's kind of sad, though. FTB Ultimate was kind of the first real golden age for modding after the 1.2.5 to 1.3.2. crash that almost destroyed the modding community entirely. And while I do agree that some of the mods the community is making now a-days is much more stable and of a higher quality, I feel that a lot of the magic that made so many of the mods in FTB Ultimate have kind of lost their way, or even stopped updating completely. Hopefully though, the community will be able to get back on its feet again. Right now, though, there seems to be a lot of the best mods struggling to update due to real life issues.
