@@MoswenMedia yep, too easy, I just used some cold bluing gel to darken the letters and went with that. A lot of folks dying to find mags for their Mini-14 avoid good deals for some reason, oh well though, more for me then, lol.

Very interesting ... I own a Mini-14 in .223/5.56 this is helpful info. My Mini 14 is a 5812 Model from 2011 which has been discontinued as it is a Law Enforcement tactical model with Government Barrel which means a 18.5" barrel with a birdcage flash hider instead of the stock 16.2" ones on the tactical.

@@MoswenMedia Yes ... I have the black polymer factory stock and the wood one like you have which I bought at Midway USA and is a Ruger factory stock as well. I also bought an ATI Strikeforce tactical stock for it that I use sometimes with the folding adjustable stock and pistol grip. Looks "Scary" like an AR with that one.

My tapco 30 round mag in 556 won’t hold 300 blackout . They start to pop out and fly out of mag so not reliable . Now I have 30 round Ruger mini 556 holding 300 blackout. There are no Ruger 30 round mags for 300 blackout . Otherwise I have 6 or so 300 blackout 20 round Ruger mini mags.

Even if you're not a cheap bastard as you put it. LOL why spend more money than you have to? It's just smart. I'm actually thinking about building a mini-14 6 mm Arc I bet you those magazines would work for it too. Thank you

Excellent point! I'm sure if they mimic the dimensions of a 5.56 casing they would work, I know nothing about less common cartridges like that though.

@@MoswenMedia 6 mm ARC is a new Hornady cartridge designed for military. I think it has the same head dimension as a 7.62 x 39 basically like a neck down 6.5 Grendel. It will deliver a thousand foot pounds out to 400 yd. 2800 fps coming out of a short barrel with a 103 grain boulevard for the high BC. I think it's the best cartridge for this size range. Lots of the AR-15 guys are going to it but I don't like plastic guns. I prefer the mini-14 old school wood and steel. Thank you 👍

@@brianlee6849 Its interesting how much science there is around these practical intermediate cartridges. It's a shame the logistics of the military switching calibers is too expensive. I like my mini 14, but for practical applications I do prefer an AR15. Thanks for sharing the info on 6mm ARC!

@@MoswenMedia Yeah. I'm not saying the many 14 is better than the AR-15. The AR-15 is definitely Superior I just prefer the old school wood and steel. The way I look at it is the mini-14 gets the job done especially if you go to accurate solutions and have them put a 6 mm Arc barrel in it even if you go with the lightweight barrel they guarantee I think 1.5 moa if you want one MOA you can go with a heavy barrel. That's fine for me I have plenty of accuracy and I still have the look and feel that I want. Thank you 👍

You didn't at least put a mag of ammo through the gun with that mag to make sure they worked? 300blk ar mags look identical in every way too, unless you look very very close. The tabs inside the mag that guide the bullet up right at the shoulder is significantly shorter on 300blk mags than the 5.56 mags. It's to help with drag against those long heavy 30 cal bullets. And the spring is different in some (probably all, but I haven't checked all of them so I won't say all). The springs are designed to have more tension at the front of the mag to help keep those 200gr bullets up. A mag full of 200gr bullets on a 5.56 spring can be a little too much on the spring. And if the back of the follower gets a little higher than the front then the nose of the bullet can drag against the front of the mag and bind it up and cause feeding issues. Yea, anti tilt followers and whatnot, but it really doesn't take much for a long bullet to drag. And the mini 14 doesn't use an anti tilt follower. A lot of subsonic 300blk is almost as long as the magazine. If you look up load data for them you'll see a lot are set at 2.260" OAL. That's the absolute longest you can load anything going in an ar magazine. I'm just saying, you might want to give an update if you've shot it. I'm thinking about buying a couple. All of the 300blk ar mags I've tried in a 5.56 have worked so far (haven't done it a lot though), but the mini 14 doesn't have an anti tilt follower, and that's worrying me a little. So could you let me know if you've had any feeding issues with it yet, and about how many rounds you've tried with it. Thanks.

Not "Duh". Mini 14 mags are not standard, and can have a lots of deviations from mag to mag because of this.
