Great video with very solid advice. The setting for adjusting how fast the drone brakes can be helpful on a low setting in very particular circumstances: Having it "glide on" after letting go of the stick can make for incredibly smooth video when you are side-passing a long subject and wish to do so in a completely uninterrupted fashion. But as Ian suggests, it would be a very bad idea to be setup like this when you are anywhere near obstacles because it can glide on virtually forever. You can of course pull back on the stick to stop but then you have the same problem in reverse and it can get ugly very fast. Thanks, Ian. I love your videos!

This might be useful for some people. Using the usual update approach on my RC that you suggest I got "Server Error. Wait a moment and try again (Code:0x115000100001)." a few seconds after checking for updates. Needless to say trying again later did not improve things. However, after various searches on the internet I found a workaround. On the RC app front page there is a Profile option and if you go there and then click settings there is Settings > check for Updates. This worked - failed half way through first time but second time the update was completed and all good. Thanks for your wonderful channel Ian, really enjoy and appreciate it. Finally, a video to explain its possible to almost turn off the automatic braking when releasing the sticks. As a 10 year FPV racing drone pilot, I'm just too hardwired to perform my own braking using stick movment in the opposite direction when appropriate. The Mini 3 slamming to an aggressive stop every time the stick returns to center was driving me insane, making it impossible to fly quickly through lots of obstacles. If you like to do fast proximity flying through things you need to build the muscle memory, and feel of the drone gliding around and not a bunch of start and stop movements which make you lose your spatial awareness if you aren't constantly moving. Yes, I know most people are using the drone strictly as a mobile camera platform. But for those who every now and then want to do a little more FPV....turn that braking as close to off as possible and makes a huge difference.

When 1st added to Mavic 3 this past December, I found the settings would not persist through restart. That's since been adjusted. As good as these are for Mini 3 Pro, they were incredible on Mavic 3, when setting braking sensitivity to zero, it would prevent that bucking bronco effect and the flare it does when stopping from high speeds - like an airplane touching down or a bird coming to a fast stop. Mini drones don't have all that mass, those powerful motors, like the Mavic 3, a stallion compared to the Mini 3 Pony. 1 m/s and braking at zero from 100 and it's one smooth operator. Note: don't leave braking at zero for higher speeds, only 1 m/s, unless you like high speed collisions!

Thank you for the good words! Signal is greatly affected by trees and also brick / stone obstacles nearby, but trees and bushes especially will block or reduce signal. Make sure you face the drone and try keeping yourself away from trees with leaves. Taken from a comment below: This might be useful for some people.

Thanks Ian. I did the update the other day but the RC app didn't. Only the drone firmware was updated. I came here to check I did it right. And yes, I did. Any ideas as forcing checks for updates says everything is up to date but I still can't see the new features. Assume the RC app must have to be updated too?

2:41 shows the version numbers; RC 01.02.0600 is what you're looking for. If this isn't working for you, turn off the drone, tap the profile on the RC screen and search out the check for updates setting and force it that way.

It's available now for the RC controller as 1.9.9, they pulled ver. 1.9.8 because of a bug and relaunched it a day later.

You need to go to DJI.com/support and open a chat with them; tell them that ALL your batteries have stopped working after this update and that it cannot just be a faulty battery; they should be able to help you out.
