I like sitting down with a coffee watching and thinking I'm glad it's not me. Oop's just put the moz on myself. Good luck with it JB. Cam

Same thing I said when watching your concrete slab levelling exercise mate! What a job and a half that was!

Morning Marcus. That is a proper hot mess you have there buddy. Likely the whole engine was packaged at the engine plant and stuffed only at the final assembly plant. Options are what you are finding out, in-chassis service is non-starter. A clever CAD person assured their boss it will stuff in just fine. The DPF supplier assured Mini that it will never fail (in warranty). So the service standards may have been bent a little. Neat little package though. That shaft coupler is something I have not seen. Maybe from old elvish design. Good luck - I am cheering you on. Good that you have a pal with a hoist. __Dan_

I think you should swing the camera about a bit more. There were a couple of seconds there where i almost stopped vomiting and could nearly see what was going on.

JB, I'm doig this on a non all4. I have the DPF released, but I can't see from your video whether you took the DPF out of the top or bottom after freeing up the engine. It looks to me if I release the lower anti swing engine mount and take one half shaft out I think it may come out of the bottom. Can you let me know. Thanks.

I was able to get the dpf out the top, by tilting the engine toward. I did this with the all4 by releasing the rear drive shaft coupling but didn’t need to pull the half shafts.

So are you staying you have to take the engine and gear box out to remove the dpf?? All I want to do is remove & replace the turbo but finding everything is in the way to get this turbo off I am having to take something off to get something else off, finding this engine to be really shit design so far. If you could help me would much appreciate it 👍🏼

mine is All4 so I needed to release the coupling to the driveshaft, and bring the engine forward, off its mounts, I did not need to remove the engine/gearbox completely to get the DPF and Cat out from behind the engine.

hello, is there a seal between the turbo and the particle filter

There is a circular clamping ring, sectioned to allow it to collapse when tightened, I found in practise this had hardened and cracked when I removed and attempted to reuse, so best practise would be to fit a new one on reassembly.

Do you know what's involved with getting the top heat shield covering the dpf/turbo off in a mini r56 with the n47 engine? I think I might have an exhaust leak between the dpf and turbo, but I'm not sure how to get the heat shield off to look at replacing the gasket. Thanks.

From memory there should be some footage of the heat shield off the turbo, it came off early in the disassembly process. The clamp ring locking the turbo to the DPF is a single use item, I attempted to anneal mine and re-use it, but it was not really satisfactory

why not just wash & flush the dpf out via the pressure sensor pipe ?

what a waste of time this video is, you should call it "how to pull a wire and touch a few bits on a mini"

The point of this video, is I was quoted $7k plus to have my car checked by the dealer for DPF filter need replacement
