I bought a packet of smaller needles, as te size 16 wouldn't work on my fabric. Unfortunately, they were too long by a much more basic method I managed to shorten them. My material was a lightweight trousers fabric I was pleased my experiment worked. I came across this after my trial when looking for shorter needles. Yes the idea works on other lightweight fabrics.

Good video and a very good tip as to how to get to be able to use a cut down standard needle in this machine. I shall have to look at your other videos. Yes this needle is 33 mm and when measured on a vernier gauge, standard needle is 39 mm long.

Nice but I can't get it to actually stitch, even with the normal needle. I opened up the device and took a brief look at the mechanics, but the parts are all very small and hard to see so I couldn't easily figure it out. Maybe you can make a video showing how the mechanism works? That would help me a lot with adjusting needle height or figuring out a different cause of the machine not working.

What about when it skips a stitch? I tend to get perect stitches all the way but it'll skip like 1-2 times on parts where it's a little bit thicker. This makes it so if anything grabs onto that skip stitch, itll pull the whole thing right out.
@TheSeamster
4 жыл бұрын
yes, this is very true, especially when in thicker areas of fabric. When you know this is going to happen, go slower and watch each stitch. The needle does play a large part in this also, because it is pulling the thread back out with the needle. Always use a practice peace before you start on your good fabric. THE SEAMSTER

Thank you for sharing a great video. Know nothing of stitching other than the basic hand stitch which is ok for my sails making for my model wooden ships. I notice that I can not have the same stitching on the revers because of the chain stitch can the hand held stitching be changed.

On my machine where the needle is the needle doesn't come straight up there's a hole on the side
@TheSeamster
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, each machine manufacturer is different. Some you just put it in and don't have to adjust ever. Some like mine, you can adjust for the material you are using. I am not familiar with the side hole you are mentioning. That normally is where a screw will go to hold the needle? The SEAMSTER

Ok, the needle does go up and down. The only question is, does it loop in the the fabric? Or the thread does not go into the fabric and stays with the needle. Need more information other than wont sew? Try using some jean or denim fabric and sew with it. The needle is really thick and light fabric might not work. Also, check out my other handheld videos on my channel to help you. THE SEAMSTER
