This is our "it's not a restoration" of a vintage (1963-1969) Mini Tonka Toy Stake Truck. New and different? I'm committed to using a sodium hydroxide (lye in the U. S., caustic soda in the U.K.) solution to strip paint. It works really, really well, although it requires a bit more care when handling. While the lye takes care of the paint, it doesn't take care of the underlying rust, so we still need a very short trip to the sandblaster. Next up: a dump truck.
The Story: Stacy is a hard-working farming truck who has hauled crops and equipment all her life. She's seen it all from bacon to eggs and everything in between. Stacy was happy for the thorough cleaning, paint stripping and buffing to bring her to a state of beauty and sparkling delight. Her new color scheme of black and red accentuates her gleaming windshield and shiny new decals. Stacy is on her way to a new life on a small farm in Corrales, New Mexico. Enjoy your days at the Farmer's Market, Stacy!
If you have a mini Tonka you'd like us to bring back to life, please send it to the address below. Our equipment can only handle the minis, so please limit your packages to these.
