"I bet my stash" thank you, this is the most concerning and funniest line to ever drop as a crafting person 😂😂

Absolutely adorable! And I spy some sashiko style stitches in that background 👀 (but I'm particularly enamoured with those little blades of grass poking around the soot's feet) Also, I mean, anything that's decorated or even just dyed is technically "unnecessary" but wanting things to be beautiful and fun is one of the things that has defined humanity since prehistory. People were making things beautiful and fun even when every piece of fabric had to be foraged, spun and woven by hand and the decorating only added more work to something already intensive, so I think if anything, we should honour their effort by doing the same when it sparks joy and we can afford to. I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here, but. Handmaking things that make us happy instead of accepting what the people at the top tell us we need and should be satisfied with feels important right now.

Yes! Wanting pretty things is absolutely valuable. And the older I get the more my home is filled with gifts my friends made me and I just cannot. They are more precious to me than anything mass produced could ever be. The blades of grass are called something like “fan stitches” in the pathchwork pamphlet, and I agree! They were a lot of fun. Do recommend! 😁

What an absolute delight to enjoy with my coffee today! I've done very little hand-stitching or embroidery, but I do adore the asymmetry of this type of quilting. (Hooray for bonus kitty content! I love hearing the purrs and little mews now and then.)

I love your mini-void. So whimsical and fun! I don't know if this might help, but whenever my mom is teaching hand-applique, she always says that the most important tool you can have is a wooden toothpick. Preferably a nice smooth one. Its very handy for folding in all those little bits of fabric!

She is very whimsical. And *needs* to be included in anything that's happening! The toothpick tip is a good one! I was thinking of pulling out my awl for similar reasons. 👀

Oh I love it too!. Sometimes one needs some silliness and a no stress project. I'm currently making a boro bag and am loving the freedom and lack of expectation of it. I need a notebook and pen on me at all times too, it's amazing how often it comes in handy.

FWIW: I am the odd woman out with the local sewing group in that I don't do much quilting. Several of the ladies who do use Elmer's school glue to baste things down rather than needle basting. Evidently if it's ironed, it holds until it washes out.
