2 years too late, but -- Yep. I wanna buy that whole box ;-) I have my own collection. In fact I went through a whole load of my minidiscs last night (a majority of them I recorded in the 90's / early 2000s) Talk about blasts from the past! I still love MD. There's just something about the whole system that fascinates me. The only player / recorders I have is my Sony JE630 deck and a Sharp portable - both still going strong. At the time NetMD and HiMD came out, I was in an economic slump & couldn't afford to get those units... Seriously jealous of that collection :-)

The trouble with MiniDiscs is they are addictive. I now have over 40 portable machines, two decks and a Micro System which has cassette, CD, tuner and MiniDisc. I also have about 20 pre-recorded discs as well as 350+ blank discs.

@ianz9916, you should do some videos on your MD gear. We all should, I’m planning to do some vids of my units. Cheers

If I had known they'd be worth so much money, I'd have bought many many more pre-recorded MDs back in the day lol

What a great collection! I have a few of the same players. Yours look to be in great condition. I'd really like one of those black and red 707s.

Neige = snow in French. Pronounced nayje. Right now only the Sony Basic (Clear) 80s are being manufactured here in Japan. But the Neige was one of the models right before, so still fairly easy to find for new old stock. I have a handful.

I heard a rumour that they stopped production recently, but that was from an English or American KZitemr, not from Japan. Will be a sad day when they stop. I wish Sony would sell them in the UK too, eBay prices are getting silly.

@@CBitsTech Not as far as I can tell. Indeed, we just had this discussion on the MiniDisc Discord, and I so I dug into the Japanese Wikipedia article and did some searches on primary Japanese sources AND went for a walk around my neighborhood, finding the MDW80Ts were still in stock at two of them and awaiting restock of them at a third. I don't live in Tokyo proper, I live in a suburb 90 minutes away, and I only went to stores in walking distance of my residential area apartment. All of the sources I read said "as of the end of 2021, MDW80Ts remain in production." So unless production was stopped like a few weeks ago or something and no Japanese media is reporting it... I doubt it. Also the fact that one of the stores was "awaiting restock" suggests: 1) there will be restock and 2) someone other than me, probably several someones other than me, are buying them. Sony may have figured out the correct size of production to make a profit off of the limited, but still consistent demand.

I would like to buy that special black USB cable from you if you have no use for it.

Nice collection, especially with the newer portables and the modification to the deck! Some of those blanks are also nice.

Great collection! I was able to successfully install all the software and drivers to be able to transfer music files to my player on windows 10/11. I might have to expanding my small set, thanks for the video!

Those are some really sleek designs! I've never actually seen one in person. So you said some of those mini discs hold up to 80 minutes? That's pretty cool. The build quality looks really nice! It reminded me of the PSP tray when it was opened up.

It's 80 minutes in standard play mode. There's also LP2, long play with twice the time (160 minutes per disc), and LP4 (four times the time). LP2 and LP4 don't sound as good, but I can hardly tell the difference between SP and LP2.
