Hi Isa, could I do all the seams with my overlocker? Would it turn out the same?
@isainstitches
3 ай бұрын
Yes! the reason I don't use my overlocker in the video is only because most people don't have one, so they ask me how to sew it with a regular sewing machine

Hi there, I was wondering what the interfacings do?
@isainstitches

Hi! It prevents the fabric from stretching out, this is what often happens when sewing jersey with a regular sewing machine (instead of an overlocker) then you get wavy and loose edges

Could you please provide a link or description of the fabric you are using?

It's cotton jersey with 5% elastan

I'm sorry it's hard to say! But it's supposed to get messy and illegible, laybe you're not wrong? Try watching other tutorials, this method is very common on youtube

@@isainstitches i eventually figured it out - I kind of had to do one side, stop and unpin, then the back side. I think it might've been my fabric was too thick. i did finish it all up though and it looks great :) thank you for the detailed tutorial

do you think it would be a good idea to understitch the neckline or is it unnecessary? also I don't know if understitching knitted fabrics is even a thing 😅
@isainstitches
2 жыл бұрын
It's not a bad idea actually! I think you'd have to understitch with a straight stitch. If you've stuck interfacing on the entire neckline + you've already sewed with a straight stitch (I'm sewing with a zigzag mais but the interfacing anyways prevents stretchiness so straight stitch on top it is) then you can totally add another straight stitch there. For me it's not useful though, in my case the inner layer is the same color and material as the shell.

May I ask if a lining is necessary if using knit fabric? I’m afraid it may be too thick and warm
@isainstitches

You're so right, it gets too warm for me! The problem is the type of knit that I picked and the fact that it's double layered. You could try just one layer making one fold hems and either the same knit fabric or another one lighter. But knit fabric is a must, yes, with elastan.

Hey! Can I use my serger instead?
@isainstitches
2 жыл бұрын
Of course! I used a sewing machine because most people have never used a serger and don't really know how to convert from serger > machine, while almost everyone with a serger knows how to use a machine.
