a little hint for the semi automatic clutch on the dax, the shift lever acts the same way as a clutch lever when the engine is above idle rpm, so when you up or downshift don't let it release to fast, put in the next gear and release it slower into the resting position, your ride experience will feel butter smooth, try it ;)

I bought the Skyteam Dax 125cc back in 2015 (still ride it around town), and while I admit that this new Dax is technologically way better than my Skyteam, there're IMO some things that I don't like in this new Dax, for one thing, the tank is too small, I have the 5.5l tank, while your new tank can only hold 3.8l....and then there's the weight: my Skyteam comes in at 75kg's, the new Dax is 107, and that's a HUGE difference, especially for a bike with only 8.6hp. And I'm planning to put the 190cc Zongshen engine on it, with a 5-speed gearbox and electric start, that'll give me 16.8hp, because I often ride with my wife, and then some extra hp is more than welcome...

Yeah, please line them up next to eachother and find someone ca your weight to ride one of them and we will see which one is faster.. also keep riding till you reach topspeed on both so we can se the difference, preferable via GPS reading. Btw, awesome that you came up with this idea, and was the 60 in Mph or Kph?

it was kmh, as clearly visible on the video. By the way, you really think, either of these bikes would be able to reach 60 MPH (their top speed) in 6.5 seconds ? 😁

Hahahahaaa! Yes, I think you could DEFINITELY launch the Monkey faster with practice. Good on ya for doing this vid BUT the monkey will always walk away from the dax due to 1) 5 speed close ratio gearbox AND . . . 2) a manual clutch with no centrifugal slippage. It is simply mechanics 101 here. That the DAX appeared to out accelerate Monkey in this test is, with full respect to you, down to your inability to use the clutch quickly and start both from a dead stop. The way you did it is most certainly not the way to correctly performance test ANY machines. You must start from a stop. Doing this, along with correct and fast clutching actions will see the monkey nearly a bike length ahead at the end.

True, and let us add the huge flywheel effect of the centrifugal clutch, which is ways heavier than the normal one; this strongly slows down the engine's revving in the first gears (I drive such bikes since 1976 so that I could compare at lenght).

@omagrandma4111

Hello can you please do a drag race / topspeed test - where we can see the difference between the monkey and the Dax in topspeed. Its best if 2 riders ride them side by side so the difference is vivid.

Can you tell me the difference in top speed between the two. I have the Dax, but, yes, I do think the Monkey has the edge when it comes to top speed.. but I would like to know just how much, as it is almost identic same engine.

@@brucegroom1929 😀yeah, if I wanted speed I would have kept my old CBR600F3, but no, I just had to have the Dax as my brother had a gold colored st50 in the early 80’s and ever since I have been obsessed with Dax. I have owned a couple of Skyteam as well. No it’s definitely not for the speed, however it is quite interesting why theres a difference in top speed as they are almost identical in size, weight and engine… hmm and I even bought the red color Dax 125, and everybody knows the red one is fastest 😂

@@bennythomsen5974 I have had a 1972 red Honda Dax 49ccm 83 km/h - the fastest. Now I ride a red Monkey from 2022, 5 gears, not so fast as the Monkey with 4 gears, only 105 km/h. The difference is in the gear translation and the automatic clutch in the Dax takes a little bit power. It´s just for fun. And I had ridden a lot: BMW R 75/5, Kawasaki 900 ccm ...

I haven’t reached their limit yet as all the roads around here are 80kmh or less. That being said, I wouldn’t take either on the freeway as they get jittery in the 80kmh range. The Dax is a bit more stable than the Monkey but I wonder if this has to do with the tires!

Very, very, very much affected by rider weight these baby engines. If I had to guesstimate for DAX I'd say, at best, equal to Monkey (won't be faster) however the DAX 'may' be a little slower due to auto clutch depending on mow much 'slip' Honda has engineered into it. Monkey has overdrive 5th gear. Not sure what the ratio is for their 4th gears in either bike but either way Monkey won't be slower than DAX. I have not seen gear ratios but I'm guessing that due to the dual passenger capability on DAX Honda may indeed have lowered all the ratios.
