Actually his research on the most efficient mining card was wrong. The 6600XT is the most efficient card at 1.7W/Mhs. That's another 40% more efficient and actually profitable before ethereum goes proof of stake in late 2022. But because of how high the difficulty on ethereum is right now, it will never pay itself off. It's only profitable for the businesses making whole warehouses. But as we can see, 6600XTs are in stock everywhere. So when everyone says it's just miners, this is how I know it isn't entirely them. I think it's more the scalpers who also buy cards when crypto goes up in the hopes of selling to miners.

Knowing that used cars are bad investment now are really good investment. In this broken economy anything might fly... It is one of those periods, when you can become millionaire or billionaire really fast... @@RealWorldReview I understand typically RISC processors are more efficient than x86, but that is not what we are observing with M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max vs the current crop of desktop chips running an older lithography node. M1 comes in less efficient and lower performance. The main difference is M1 ships with class leading hardware acceleration for many more workloads than desktop chips. That’s why it appears more efficient, and more powerful in limited instances. Apple has a dramatically more power efficient OS on top of it. However, the performance, AND raw compute efficiency is last Gen, while running on next gen lithography. It’s a good low power chip, but it does not beat current offerings from Intel and AMD in efficiency if you put them at the same power level.

@@totalermist As a heavily anti-Apple party, I have to admit that Apple's Silicon are genuinely impressive achievements. It's accurate to say that the newest iterations of M1 - Pro and Max - are productivity focussed improvements on the original M1 package. They are designed to run and operate for extended periods at high or near-to-high workloads. There are many x86 systems with dedicated GPUs that can outperform them; but where the newer M1's meet with equivalent performance and chips, their power envelope is frankly tiny. To me, this informs me that there's room to theoretically push these packages much harder; there are just limitations placed on them. This is likely to reduce power draw and heat - which are key design points when designing for a laptop form factor. I'm looking forward to the first truly 'unleashed', actively cooled desktop variant of M1 in the future.
