@@dvw. It's not really great for video editing but it should be able to handle photo editing. I like this 2in1 a lot but I'm a little biased because I got £200 off + they accidentally sent me a second keyboard. I've had the laptop for about 4 months and the keyboard is a little scuffed up, the tablet itself is in perfect condition. Honestly I think you should wait for the upcoming snapdragon devices cause those look pretty good and are even capable of playing more demanding games, I can't guarantee there will be a lot of options to choose from (especially since dell seems to not want to make another 2in1) but the surface pro 10 seems promising

The lapboard even has a slot to put a tablet into, so ill be able to very easily transport around my workstation and comfortably use it. I really hope linux runs well on it too, cause I wabt linux to be my main OS for productivity while windows exists purely for gaming or any exclusive features i might need.

All you guys complaining about the price I hear you but please consider the following: See this as competition to Surface tablets which it actually is and suddenly it looks very good price to performance+features wise. Surface devices with the same performance are 2x+ as expansive as this! This isn't meant as competition to laptops! The expensive thing with things like this compared to laptops is even greater miniaturization and compactification, which justifies a higher price ... especially if you consider MF calculating with lower sales numbers compared to more mainstream products like both laptops, Surface and iPads. Also look at the prices for mini PCs with the same specs. Consider what all you get additionally for the difference in price if buying this compared to buying a mini pc, which still needs a display and other peripherals to br usable, while this is ready to go with nothing additionally. (EDIT: this paragraph was factually correctified) Considering all of this makes the price seem extremely competitive. If you want performance above everything then sure; buy a budget friendly gaming laptop. But if you want something just like this there is nothing better on the market right now!

Let's not get carried away; a mini PC with similar specs is definitely not $1k. I have a UM780 XTX that was $430 barebone and with 32GB DDR5 and a 1TB NVME SSD came to about $600. Sure that has the 7th gen Ryzen 7 and not 8th gen, but there's not much of a difference if you're not using AI workloads. Plus the UM780 XTX will happily pull 70W+. That being said a mini PC isn't a replacement for a portable Windows tablet. The Microsoft Surface Tablet or even the Asus ROG Flow Z13 are better comparisons and they cost WAAAY more, so the value proposition of this tablet still stands.

Screen size of a tablet HIGHLY depends on how you plan to view it and the content you plan to use it. I find that 10 inch is at the edge of holding comfortably in your hand. Anything larger is better placed on the desk. Games that are originally made to be played with a larger screen can feel claustrophobic. Additionally UI elements that were small to begin with can be felt much smaller. Playing games such as Hades on the switch and playing Predecessor on a 10" tablet comes to mind. Games that were made for the screen size / resolution feels fine even if the physical screen size is small. For example Advance Wars on the DS felt fine. Emulating that game on the PC witha larger screen, it still feels playable.

For $1500 for 32GB DDR5, 1TB storage, a QHD 120hz display, AMD Ryzen 8840U with no Nvidia GPU, it's actually not too bad for the bang for buck value. And the face that Microsoft is now rolling out Core Ultra on their Surface tablets after finally getting rid of their reputation of being behind specs-wise. In fact, some companies that make Windows tablets can charge you more but with inferior specs, including being stuck on 60hz. Microsoft charges much higher prices for their tablets than this one. When they roll out the Core Ultra tablet, you can compare the prices. I think in 2026, Minisforum will probably release the next version with OLED 120hz and a Zen 6 APU or Zen 5 Refresh. Later this year, we should get our first Strix Point mini PC.

I need this thing so bad, one of the only tablet experiences that truly captures all I need it to do. I kind of just hate that it will also be obsolete a few months from now, but this one stands out quite a bit. I wish technology had a bit more shelf life to it, it all just moves too quick and leaves you regretting not waiting, but you have to purchase something, or not, just that it is rather frustrating.

Thank you for this review. I received the pre-order email from Minisforum. However after watching your video I can't justify spending £1100+ for this tablet. It's ridiculous to have a tablet with only 4 hours battery life in that price category. A proper laptop with 10 hour battery life is better. I better buy a proper laptop and continuing using my Galaxy Tab S8 tablet. Let's hope Lenovo is working on Duet 3 with more powerful SoC, which would make it a perfect laptop and a perfect Android tablet at the same time.

I do hope they will make 2-in-1 13 inch laptop like this tablet. Kinda like ROG Flow X13, but for a reasonable price. And tbh with those APUs you don't really need a dedicated GPU to play games - especially on smaller 14 or 13 inch screen. In many cases you can get away with 720p.

I have ROG Ally , after watching this video really tempted me to buy this. Since it is basically using same iGPU in ROG Ally and almost the same CPU performance I know I will have a good portable gaming experience. Plus comparing this with the ROG Ally, this is a good solution for people that want bigger screen (7 vs 14in), bigger RAM (16 vs 32 GB), higher refresh rate (120 vs 165hz), higher resolution (1080p vs 2500p), more USB port (1xUSB4 vs 2x USB4), eGPU support, pen support and want to use their own controller for gaming on the go. Gosh , a lot of positive points here. As for price , ROG Ally (USD699) vs Minisforum V3 (USD1199) . With all the features, I think the price is justified.

The Ally has eGPU support, it just has to be Asus' XGm line of eGPUs. Tend to be very expensive at full price, but prices on the older 3080 and 6800 variants have dropped like rocks

@@alexzendermarunsai Unfortunately, ASUS' proprietary eGPU solution is better than anything using Thunderbolt or USB4. I believe it's still better than Oculink as well. The Legion Go can only provide 32Gb/s of PCIe to the eGPU, plus there's performance loss due to overhead with Thunderbolt, and further loss if the internal display is running off of it. XGm on the other hand, is a 64GB/s link, plus an additional USB-C to handle the extra ports on the dock. A few devices support Oculink, it has the same bandwidth benefit as XGm, but I don't think there's any support for hotswapping it in Windows.

This is a really amazing idea but one that doesn't work in practise. I mean imagine holding a tablet that weighs 1 kilo or 2 pounds. Watching a movie or scrolling through media will give you aches really fast. My tablet that I own weighs half of that and I personally think its heavy even after 15 minutes of use.

Next revision should have a keyboard like the surface book with a 2nd battery and possible dedicated gpu in there... would increase battery life dramatically... I never know why they stopped making em, there the first and only true laptop to be ever made (as in you can sit it on your lap without burning) Also ETA can you do a video using one of those Akasa cases for the Asus PN series??? It'd be cool to see how far you could push the 780m in a completely silent form factor
@reaperreaper5098

Microsoft stopped making them because they didn't sell well. Huge reasons why were reliability issues with the latch mechanism, and the tablet recognizing parts of the base (primarily the GPU) or just not recognizing the base was connected at all. It's a huge shame they never worked it out, the Surface Book was one of the coolest designs out there.
@richardg7973

@@reaperreaper5098 yeah I've had the battery swell on mine, it still works fine and the base attaches fine etc. surface book 1 this is. I still use it for basic web browsing every now n then, I think the concept needs to be taken by other companies... MS are awful at making anything, but if Asus, Lenovo etc. picked up the idea it could come to fruition in a more reliable and better way... I mean like all laptops in my opinion should have hardware behind the screen and 2nd larger battery under keyboard to balance the weight, it would then mean that they are actual "lap tops" n you wouldn't get leg burn... tablet format would be better tho where you can disconnect and use as a tablet because it just gives a tonne of extra flexibility
