I have this lens since 1983 with the Minolta XG-1. Took thousant of photos !!! And now I am gonna use it again with my Nikon Z5 + Urth Adapter.

@@studiotrejo3047 You should do a review on the Zenitar-M 50mm f1.7. Its got a smooth bokeh out of this world. I also love that lens, it lives permanently on my Fujica ST801.

Great review. You're right about the hexagonal out of focus highlights. It was enough for me to sell mine and stick with the 55mm 1.7. The 55mm I have still has 6 blades but I felt like it had slightly smoother rendering.

Minolta lens is cheap because the camera line was discontinued. Will there be a video about Tominon 55mm f1.2?

That is true they are cheap and discontinued. Another great reason to pick one up. If I get my hands on a Tominon 55 f1.2 I would review it. Not only is it fast at 1.2 but that extra reach at 55 will give it more Bokeh. Thank you for watching!

Thanks for the history lesson Alex! Seems like this one outperforms the Canon FD 50mm 1.4 which is definitely soft and low contrast when wide open.

Your welcome! I guess it depends on which Canon 50mm 1.4 you have. The newer models have better coatings but it could still render it soft and low contrast, which some people still like. Which version do you have?

So do I, it sets them apart from new glass. Someone wrote that the lens is like your paint brush on canvas. They are all different and give different effects. Thank you for watching!

Minolta is a rare breed with name recognition without the big price tag. Add to it the beautiful colors and you get great lens with 3D pop.
