great video Drew, in the process of finding a copy myself. In some of my reading I found that the "angular glaring" you mentioned toward the end of the video is actually a light leak that is kind of tricky but can be repaired by a skilled tech, if you wanted.

Very smart looking camera 📷 Lots of thought have gone into the design. Images it produces are stunning. I've added your channel, hopefully you'll connect with a retro film photographer? Edit- my daily carry canera is my Olympus pen ee half frame camera, to me it's just a work of art, a design icon, it's small and easy to carry around and ultra simple to use.

Thanks for watching! I looked into the Olympus pen cameras for my video on the Kyocera Samurai. They've got that stellar art-deco kind of look to them, super cool cameras

This camera achieves a spiritual unity between form and function. Out of all my cameras this is the one I enjoy using the most.

That's the one with the detachable flash that you stick on to the side, right? Such a cool camera. I also love the way its bulbous lens cover opens. Thanks for the kind words!

The Himatic AF has such a unique retro aesthetic. It kind looks like a cross of the Leica M5 and Canon AE-1. How’s the 38mm lens on it? I really enjoyed trying my friends 40mm Ricoh gr but I wasn’t sure if it would be wide enough to use every day. Thanks for watching!

@@DrewWaddell I love the 38 as it is like a combo of a 35 and a 40. Great channel man!

Minolta made the first workable auto focus cameras in the 80s then in the 90s they made the cle view finder with lieca wich was the best m mount camera until the lieca m7 came out 10 yrs later. best point and shoot and the best 35mm pro camera in the alpha 9. Then they sold there camera devision to sony and sony ran with it. There's a reason minolta heads love there minoltas so much❤

It costs on ebay 1000 usd. Better take a film SLR with decent 28 mm lens for a fraction of cost. E.g. Nikon F80 + Nikkor 28mm 1: 2.8 will do better for a ridiculous cost. Add here built-in multizone balanced fill flash, motorized film transport, better exposure metering, 5-point autofocus etc.

Fair point! I think its important to consider the different use cases though. A Nikon F80 may have certain advantages over the Minolta TC-1, but it is also won't fit in my pocket. The Minolta TC-1 is also undoubtedly expensive, but if it was all about practicality, nobody would shoot film. I'll have to check out the F80 sometimes, seems like a cool camera. Thanks for watching!

Have you been able to get the light leak fixed? It seems like a common problem on TC-1.

It hasn’t bothered me enough to get it fixed honestly. But I don’t think it would be that complicated of an issue to resolve

It's an old Pentax wrist strap. The shop I bought it at in Vietnam threw it in for free lol
