I think this was the first video i've watched from you. About 3-4 months passed. Didn't understand nothing about 6th intervals than! I understand now what it's all about! Thanks Christiaan!

Thanks Christiann! Fingerings for m6 chord. Version 1. Root is played by 2nd finger on the B string. Stay in position ("Dutch") Version 2: Switches position, 2 notes per string. Start on third on high E string ("French")

Very interesting, starting the arpeggio on the 3rd instantly sounds more musical.

thanks for your lessons Chritiaan. I don't see how playing a minor 6 arpeggio in different positions can be qualified as a secret. I think a better description of this video is "2 ways to play the minor 6 arpeggio". There is no revelation here. Anyway, thanks for all you do !

Just curious. The fingering you use seems kind of awkward. Is there a reason you don't start the Dutch fingering with your second finger on the e string and use your pinky? Great lesson by the way. This is very useful!
@ChristiaanvanHemert

Yes, I start with my first finger because I prefer to play this arpeggio in wide postion with 3 fingers!

Christiaan, Great video! Why do you start the Dutch arpeggio on the 2nd finger when it can all be played in one position without a shift?
@ChristiaanvanHemert
6 жыл бұрын
Because I prefer playing that particular arpeggio in 'wide position'. In order to make that practical I have to start in closed with my 1st finger (index finger).

What's the difference between Dutch GJ and French GJ?
@ChristiaanvanHemert

Some stylistic differences. Dutch style is more inside and lyrical, French style is more adventurous and flashy, but it's a spectrum of course with many "in-between-styles" possible!

Hi Chris! I've played the "dutch" way lots, and learning stochelo's solos he plays the heck out of that pattern, as well as others. However, I've learned a bunch of Angelo's solos and don't remember even once noting him playing that other pattern . Do you know any recordings or youtube videos of someone playing that french pattern? It would help me get a feel for where they would want to use it.
