Pol 3 is main polymerase. Pol1 is for proof reading...

original error is always on the newly synthesized strand as parent strand alread had its proof reading post replication

Hi Dr Ghosh, I have a question: What if the GATC sequence is very far away, wouldn't it 'waste' a lot of energy to reform that whole new segment? Thanks!

you are absolutely right if that is the situation. But the genome is designed in such a way that there are GATC sequence in every few checkpoints 😬 so that issue is taken care..

Mechanism are different and MMR only removes the specific mismatch ones. This removes few upstream and downstream ones and is a more radical method.
