And woe to that religious who takes delight in idle and vain words and by this means provokes men to laughter." And again in the Bible: "zeal for your house has consumed me". I share this not to damper our spirits, but to broaden our perspective on the singular mission we are called to have. @@chrismeloy1149 I used to be the same way, but growing up in a good church (PCUSA) helped with that a lot. When you have a congregation that lives and breathes the teachings, as a family through Christ, it's the ultimate safe space. It's probably the only place one will ever get an opportunity to speak in front of a crowd where literally everyone wants you to succeed and the only criticism you receive is constructive. When I was in college, a public speaking course was mandatory for all degree programs. I was failing that class, I was on my last free retake of the class and I told our minister about my issues, and they invited me to read the liturgy then to do guest sermons (that they helped me write at first and then just did some light editing towards the end of the semester), and by the end of that Semester I went from I can't even stand up on stage to I got an 99.5% on my public speaking class after giving a 10 minute speech in front of 3000 students, faculty, and guests, about how all drugs should be legal for recreational use and nothing that takes place between consenting parties should be criminal. (It was the early 2000's We were told we would have to write our speeches about uncomfortable and polarizing issues. Everyone wrote topics on slips of paper and then we drew from a sack, that's what I got.)

In my country Protestants and Catholics pronounce some of the originally Greek names differently. The Protestants stay closer to the Greek pronunciation, while the Catholics opt for a pronunciation closer to (church) Latin. When I'm with my Protestant family of friends I use the Protestant pronunciation).

Especially as I was coming back to the sacrament of confession. ❤ And yes, I am Filipino. 😅 This video brings me back to when I was just hand picked from the crowd of parishioners to deliver the 1st reading at the Sunday service in our local community. It was at that time that I realized that I was not capable of reading our own local dialect. 😅 It was because that was the first time I ever read anything in our local dialect. 🫣 I literally haven't met any one of those words in my life! 😭 I regret to say that no one understood anything that I had read that day. I was literally dying at the podium. I just had to get it done and over with. 😢 The very next Sunday, I volunteered to read again. And it was much better. 😊

Oh yes! Check the readings when I'm a Proclaimer. Practise reading it aloud as well
