Hey Bhupinder -thank you for the detailed and thoughtful video review of the Mission USB Power Cable for Fire TV. As the engineer who designed this product I can share with you one flaw in your power analysis. You are assuming that the Fire TV always consumes 9W, but in fact, it that is the peak power level. 95% of the time the actual Fire TV power consumption is less than 2.5W so the battery charge level stays around full charge most of the time (there is excess power available to top off the battery). The system works because during the 5% of time when the power consumption goes near 9W, the battery is able to contribute the extra energy needed. In other words, the battery acts like an energy storage reservoir that can provide extra power during those brief moments when the USB port has insufficient power capability. The system works because the average power consumption of the Fire TV stick is actually less than the 2.5W if you consider a time interval of many minutes. Hope this helps!

Just an question about the product do you think that it would be a suitable upgrade cable for USB powered DACs and if it's already being fed 5v at 1.8a would it do a pass though mode or would it change into a different operation mode sending even greater amps at 5 volt still or just act as an power line conditioner

The biggest problem, as I illustrated in the video, is that when the TV is OFF, there is no input power to the battery. So, slowly slowly the battery drains. And when you turn ON the TV and start watching through firestick, the battery never gets the chance to properly charge itself. I understand that as per your comment, it can charge because firstick doesn't always consume 9W which is well below what TV's USB port can give. But, the main problem is when the TV is OFF. Because firestick is not designed to be connected to a battery, it uses power even when it's in the idle or off state. It needs power even if it's off because firestick's remote control signal needs to communicate with the firestick that's behind the TV. So, firestick needs to be always ready, even when it's off, so that it can get the signal from the firestick's remote to turn ON. So, during the TV off state, the mission's battery drains out. This is why when you turn ON the firstick when connected to the mission, it turns ON much slower than an adapter.

@@bhupindertube Is it so hard to understand that most of the time the fire TV stick consumes less energy than the TV can provide? Because of this the battery inside the mission USB-Power cable can charge most of the time, while it can provide some extra power, in case the stick requires it. The reason, why the TV won't switch on from your kitchen, is as follows: The fire TV remote interacts via the fire TV stick via Bluetooth. Bluetooth is radio frequency, and does not need a visual connection. The TV has an IR (infra red) remote. Infrared is light. The TV needs to see the light emitted by the remote. Now, in case the fire TV gets power, it can communicate with the fire TV remote. And when you press the power button of the fire TV remote, it will receive the Bluetooth signal from the fire TV remote, and switch on the TV (in case the TV supports being switching of by HDMI). In case the fire TV does not get power, as the battery of this Mission cable is drained, the fire TV stick can not switch on the TV. The TV has to rely on it's standard method, which is IR. As the fire TV remote non only supports Bluetooth, but IR as well, your TV will switch on. But as with the original remote of the TV, it requires a visual connection. This said, I still don't think that most users require the Mission Power cable. This is because most TVs can provide some extra power on their USB port. In my case, just connecting a regular cable to the fire TV stick did work. I just got the message, that power might be low. I got rid of this, by isolating the data-pins of the USB cable. I therefore am not sure if the Mission Power Cable is a fake. At least, in most cases, a power cord with no data lines, will do the job.

Just received my Mission Cable the other day and no issues at all so far. It's been working just fine with my Firestick 4K Max. I haven't had to install any updates, so I guess we'll see. For now, I'm good with it.

I'm glad you got no problem with it so far. Have you ever tried to connect firestick with an adapter first? You should try to see the difference when it's connected using the mission vs the adapter.

@@bhupindertube I am sorry to say, that you have little knowledge of electronic engineering. The fire TV stick is a little computer. It won't run any slower or anything, in case it doesn't get enough power. In case power is too low, it will reboot. This said, if the fire TV stick does work when powered directly from the TV via a simple cablo, or if it runs with this strange Mission Power Cable with battery, then you are fine. It is simple as that.

My understanding is that this "strange Mission" thing is simply a USB power cable with an inline battery that acts, essentially, as a capacitor. His message, seems to be that the Television's USB doesn't provide enough power to BOTH constantly power the Stick AS WELL AS re-charge the capacitor. (Battery) Therefore, it WILL, indeed, "re-boot" during times of high power draw, such as UPDATES, which can present a genuine problem; as a fractioned Update sometimes doesn't 'take' as intended.

Only had Mission for 1 day. Works beautifully thus far. We'll see if/when the battery eventually runs out since my Firestick is on 24/7. Also, wondering what the two blue lights mean. Sometimes only one is lit up. It doesn't say ANYWHERE on the attached literature!

If you do not recommend Mission, then what product do you recommend? As I have a motorhome with little outlets and wanted to use the Mission
@bhupindertube

I recommend connecting using its own power adapter. It's pretty long cable and connect it using an extension cord if needed. The problem is not with the product itself but with the USB voltage of the TV. There is no product that can magically increase the voltage. Unless they increase the TV's USB voltage but that's standard so we're stuck.

If they are doing what they are saying, they need to use a boost converter, in order to get the voltage of the battery (3.6V) to 5V. They would additionally require an LDO in order to charge the battery.

Yes, if you want your Fire TV to start up quickly. It's a trade of between not having cables around the TV or faster fire tv startup. What's your preference?

I think the biggest caveat is that Mission needs to be more transparent. Saying that if you don 't use it for a few months, a week, 3 days, you may need to charge. Or maybe have it in the instruction manual to ensure that the battery is fully charged before operation.
