Mary was never neglectful of her children. She tried to engage with her children on countless occasions but they never engaged back. Tons of times she tried to do stuff with Missy and Georgie but at that time being seen with your "mommy" was social seppuku. Everyone keeps forgetting that even though Sheldon is a genius the boy doesn't actually understand social queues or norms. He is oblivious to this and they have tried to teach him but he just doesn't understand it. Next everyone keeps forgetting the dynamic of the family. Sheldon though a genius has issues with sensory overload not to mention they are twins which means she had to take care of 2 babies at the same time both clawing for attention. A parent will at that stage delegate their time to the child who needs it more, which granted isn't fair to Missy but its not fair for Sheldon to be ignored just to be fair. Finally, when growing up, Missy had friends. Sheldon did not. Sheldon was even bullied. Think about that for a second. A child that is incredible smart, being bullied because he can't understand even the basic social queues that other children his age understand. Missy has friends, goes to birthday parties and has a social life. Sheldon had no one. He had absolutely zero friends. She loved her children very much but everyone seems to forget that while the Mom obviously coddled Sheldon, he had no one else but his mom. Everyone looks at his genius without looking at all the other stuff Sheldon had to deal with. Sensory overload to the point of taking apart a fridge because he heard a sound, fabric softener that he needed or he literally could not sleep. The boy did have issues and maybe the mother did focus on him more but she loved all 3 of her children very much.

I’m on Missy’s side she seemed to always be ignored and Sheldon was the center of the universe! Made him grow up to be a very selfish adult!

Missy just called it you Mary only care about Sheldon. You cannot be considered anything but a bad mother. In my opinion maybe you should allow Missy to go where she could find someone who would love her. Mary you do not have the capacity to love anyone but Sheldon,

The MOTHER is worried about the one kid who can't handle himself in most situations. She's only got so much energy and Sheldon takes a lot of it. Plus, the show is set in the 80s. Take it from someone who lived them, it was a different gddamn time. Mental health was an all but unknown concept to the masses. What is with people who only want to see her as a monster?

This was the only Mary put missy before Sheldon, It’s not because of her love for missy, but her guilt ,and her reputation, Missy basically said her mother and her family are more concerned about her sibling then her

Sheldon has got the high IQ, but Missy has got the high EQ. I love how this episode, and like the whole of The Big Bang Theory was showing the difference between IQ and EQ, and how both are very important in everyday lives. I'll take a higher EQ anyday.

Mary is just awful. In response to her child rudely yelling poppycock to an adult, her response is "Sheldon's getting upset. I don't like it." Proper response, when he comes back, you discipline him and make him apologize to the doctor for being disrespectful.
