In our world we have a couple separate food boxes. Some have current tier food for mistland or maybe plains activities. Then theres junk food boxes that are pretty much just filled with anything outdated we happen to pick up. We use the junk food for casual activities.

Definitely a smart idea. My friend and I recently reorganized our chest system but two separate food boxes would be smart.

Parry is based on block armor and max health. Explains why you couldn't parry, then ate some foods, then parry worked properly.

MMM you seem like you have played darksouls so heres your answer, your parry/block "poise" is equal to your current Max HP so Good foods = Good Poise that + the "Block Force" stat on your gear. Annnnnd i almost forgot you must wait for the RED bar at the right side of your toon each time you parry/block to get down so your poise doesnt break, and they land a crtical on cha.

Parry or not depends on your current health, not only on the weapon/shield :)
@BradStowers
Жыл бұрын
Depends on your maximum health, not your current health. If you have taken damage, it won't affect your blocking. As the food decays and lowers your maximum health, that can affect your blocking. Eating crappy food will make for crappy blocking/parrying.

I went with Maces first, then Sword's, then in Midland's went with Polearms and Skol and Hati. Tried Krom but a bit to slow. May go back to Swords but my Skill is way down to around 5 because I haven't used them for awhile. You made it look like easy work, guessing you're Sword skill is high.

Mistwalker does parry one star seekers, but if your stagger bar fills, you gonna get staggered regardless. In that first fight, you blocked a bunch of stuff from the soldier and then the seeker, so your stagger bar just filled. Since the Mistwalker does frost damage, would those be the sprinkles on your vanilla ice cream?
@WafflesGamesProbably

Hahaha I love that. Mistwalker is definitely sprinkles on top of vanilla ice cream. Maybe Misty has a new name: Sprinkles.

There is actually another reason why you not being able to pary the attack. The stagger is tied to your max health (40% for the player), so the higher your health, the more damage needed to stagger the player (200 health is 80 damage needed to stagger), the game calculates the damage you receive based on the armor formula (if half the raw damage you would take is greater than your armor, is: damage - armor; if the armor is greater than half the raw damage you would take, is: [damage]^2 /[4*armor]), and this formula is also applied when you block or pary, using the block armor and multiplying by the pary bonus, then the remaining damage is calculated by the armor, and the remaining damage is what you receive and the stun bar fills as explained above before the damage reduction by your armor. Blocking multiple times in a row as @TubeTAG mentioned can end up filling the bar and causing to stagger. However, if during the damage calculation on block or pary, the remaining damage reaches this 40%, that damage goes straight, you stagger immediately and only the damage reduction on your armor is calculated. As I said, in the case of 200 health is 80 damage, 1 star seeker gives between 135 to 180 damage and 2* star seeker 180 to 240. If you try to block it with 200 life and Mistwalker who has 54 and a pary bonus of 2 (108), it would look like this: the damage ranges from 135 to 180 for 1*, half gives 67.5 to 90, here blocking or pary makes the difference between the two damage calculations, let's see with the pary and maximum damage value: 180^2/(4*108) = 75, then this value is reduced by your armor too, the value for stagger with 200 health it is 80, so you can pary, almost at the limit. For blocking without pary it would be: 180-54 = 126, you will stagger immediately and this reduction from 180 to 126 by blocking will not happen, it will go 180 straight to your armor and then it will be reduced. As your health at that time with 1*Star Seeker was apparently 170, the damage you would pary was 75 again for the 180 damage, but your stagger cap would be 68, that's why you couldn't pary it, and as your max health it decreases over time and the Seeker have 3 atacks with damage between 135 to 180, there comes a time when he would no longer be able to block or pary some atacks due to being tied to his maximum life and of course, blocking several times in a row can do that. With 2* Star Seeker, well I don't even need to do the calculation haha. That's why it's important to have a lot of health in the mistlands, usually around 200, but these 2* Seeker and 2* Seeker Soldier, only with a shield and I already faced a 2* Seeker Soldier with a level 2 carapace shield with 209 health and the stagger bar was almost at the limit. Anyway, that's it, sorry for the huge text haha. I had to use the translator to write this text, so if there are any mistakes, I apologize in advance.

@@WafflesGamesProbably Thank you so much! Actually I was watching the video again, where you tried to pary the 1* star seeker and I realized that you actually paryed it, you can see that the damage was reduced to 11, and the Seeker went into stagger too and you can hear the pary sound too, so i was wondering what happened haha. And I think, that the game adds stagger twice when you block or pary, 1 for the block and another one for the remaining damage after the armor calculation, because as I said before, if you stagger on the block, the damage goes straight through and only the reduction because of the armor it happens, the next damage you took was 68, which is approximately that for the reduction of damage by armor only. But the damage was reduced to 11 on the first pary, so it worked, but you stagger it anyway. So what happened (I think), you pary, the damage value reduced by the block was almost 40% of your max health and the stagger bar was at 95~99%, almost stagger, so the remaining damage reduced by your armor added remaining stagger and hit the 100% and you stagger. so, you tried to pary again but your stagger gauge was halfway down and the pary failed and the damage wasn't reduced by the block, just the armor, giving 68. I was watching the video and wondering what happened but I'm not sure if this is really what happened.

You said you'll try not to use your shield, why's that. 1handed weapons are supposed to be used with a shield most of the time, so it's just natural.
@WafflesGamesProbably
Жыл бұрын
Oh you’re absolutely right about that. But in my head, since other weapons can party without a shield, like 2h weapons, I just like seeing if other 1h weapons can as well. Especially since I don’t always pull out my shield. If it’s just a quick encounter and doesn’t feel too hectic, i just take my main weapon out. For me, the shield only comes out if absolutely necessary. Mostly out of pure laziness because my fingers can’t be bothered to press two buttons instead of just one.
