I still love the movie and the soundtrack !!! I actually met Janet Jones at the Spice Girls in 1998 and I think she was shocked I knew who she was. I told her she was more my idol than her husband !

@@jillmilnes7613 I remember seeing her in a centerfold, I think it was Sports Illustrated. it was a special of all the sports guys wives. She looked amazing all decked out in his hockey gear. Super hot!! I always thought she was really pretty.

Thank you brother for being such an inspiration to me growing up. It was you, Peter Vidmar, Bart Conner and Tim Dagget that inspired me to become a gymnast way back when. I'm now 47 and a full-time caregiver for my mentally disabled son but it was my formative years in gymnastics that gave me the grit and dedication that my son and I both need today. You were one of those early "super heroes" to me. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏🌎🌎🌎

American anthem i saw it in theaters when I was six years old with my aunt, it marked me for life, I went home a little six year old kid and said to my parents I want to be a gymnast and the next day I started in a local gym in trampoline and moved up to artistic gymnastic after a couple months, so from 6 years old to 20 I was a gymnast, it’s the most complete sport in the world, thank you American anthem and thank you Mitch Gaylord AKA Steve Tevere 😁

The love of performance vs. the fear of competition. I never heard it put in that perspective, and it makes alot of sense. I think when I was younger, I didn't realize all the things I was doing which eroded the love of performing. First it became about nothing but competion and beating the best. Then it became only about the money, being efficient, and making a profit. I remember telling a former friend and mentor of mine before I made more money, I really don't do this for fun, and I don't find it fun anymore. He said, it can be. I doubted him, and quit after cashing another check some months later. I will bet most people who burn out or get mental blocks will find they allowed themselves, someone, or circumstances to shift their focus away from just loving the sport.
