The soap: Mitchell’s Wool Fat. There is a reason why this soap finds its way onto many top 10 lists. Protective and creamy, it’s ideal for straight razor shaving. The dense fatty face feel during the shave, and moisturizing post shave with this lanolin-based tallow soap is hard to beat. Mild, powdery soapy, clean barbershop scent (with some gaminess). A classic.
The Brush: Semogue OC boar brush in cherry wood. This brush gets better with every use. Some of the split ends have split again, and now is pillow soft. Not as dense or scrubby as the omega professional, but better flow through and easier to break-in.
The Razor: 1950’s Spalding Tanifuji 6/8 full hollow vintage Japanese straight razor. It doesn’t get much better.
Straight Razor Tip of the Day: If you are awkward/ useless with your non-dominant hand like me, check out the video to learn how to shave against the grain on the neck with one hand using “The Godfather” and “eating soup” technique.
