Superb quality throughout, easy to assemble. I found the saw to be highly accurate and a delight to use (I am a homeowner using this saw for various projects). I attached the saw to a folding mobile stand to save space and that works great kzitem.infoUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe as well. However, you have to be sure the saw is securely locking in position before collapsing the stand. I've had many of the brands over the years and have come to point where I only buy Bosch, the extra money is a small price to pay for the quality and ease of use. Treat yourself to the best.

Thanks for your guide to adjusting the miter saw. The only other thing I would do is to cross cut two pieces and then flip one over and compare the edges to see if they are true. If there is any misalignment, this method will surely show if the blade is a true right angle.

I want to add 3 things. Most cheap squares are not square. That's why companies can get away with selling expensive professional squares and rulers for so much money Next, do some test cuts on a flat board or plywood. Look up the 5 cut method. You'll need calipers. Last, once the fence is set, take the time to double check the adjustable plastic line for the angle indicator.

This test is only if you want to saw with precision, with a miter saw.(test is not intended for rough and hard work). Tips and Test: Very important if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a VERTICAL line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact / Bosch PCM 8 SD / Hitachi C10FSH / Ridgid MS255SR 10-inch / Evolution Fury3-S / Evolution R255SMS / Metabo HPT C10FSBS / Hitachi C10FSB / Hitachi C10FS. (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). (If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed). Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand (finger) on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing (test is completed). Step-4. Therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned VERTICAL in line above the saw blade. The second option is the handle positioned HORIZONTAL in line above the saw blade. Step-5. When you measure the vertical 90 degrees angle square (Digital Angle Gaug) of you're sawblade don't forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing. Conclusion:how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing don't go for that (the choices are yours). Also with a cheap slide miter saw it is still better the handgriff in line a above the saw blade than on the right side. Maybe they will make it someday then we have a winner...

Thanks for taking the time to teach an important lesson to folks getting started on squaring a miter saw…As people we tend to take knowledge we hold or that’s common in our lives for granted as common sense when in reality, the knowledge we acquire will always differ according to the path you’re on, so common sense to a roofer or logger is not common sense to a house mom or a firefighter and vice versa. That’s why some of the most basic instructional videos have so many millions of views because what’s common to one of us likely isn’t as common to everyone else. So we all have something we can teach others. So thanks to everyone doing their part spreading useful information to help others

Is there a way to adjust the slide. It seems like when I cut a wide board it will not cut along a straight line the full length....almost like the slide is off?? Any help would be great. Thanks
@CoryWCordell
9 жыл бұрын
Hi Karl. There's not a way to specifically adjust the slide that I know. Although, if you have another model yours could have a method. There is a learning curve when cutting precisely on a sliding compound. A person naturally leans into the saw on the stroke which skews the cut very slightly since there is always a minuscule amount of play and deflection in the saw. The longer the arm is extended the more for potentially
@CoryWCordell
9 жыл бұрын
Sorry, technical difficulties. Like I was saying, the saw has potential deflection exponential to the extended length. To minimize this, try to keep the pushing force in line with the slide action. If your doing everything correctly you should end up with a good cut. There is always the possibility that you have a defective saw. I hope this helps. God bless!

Karl Hinson I have the same issue. My particular unit is the MS1290LZA. I don't believe that it is a draw issue as Cory says. I drew a line on a board with a square. I then, traveled the blade over the line and sure enough, even though the fence is square to the blade, it tracks at an angle. I was hoping that in my manual, the section titled "Centering The Saw Between The Slide Bars" would take care of it, but it doesn't seem to function in that capacity. So, so far, its very frustrating. Cory, any suggestions on this part of the manual are appreciated. And can the blade be at a different angle than the slide?

I've had mine about 10 years. It's been a pretty good saw. No problems but if you are going to do woodworking there may be some slightly better options out there. Although this saw is very capable of woodworking once you get used to its intricacies I'd go with a little higher quality saw for making those smooth and sure cuts for fine woodworking. If your looking for a saw to run crown or general carpentry then this is a great value.
@AmericanaWoods
8 жыл бұрын
+hoxha34 Ive had one for 8 years. The slide path has been out of alignment with the blade since day 1. It cuts square right next to the fence, but when you extend it out, it is off by up to 1/8". This makes long cuts and other trim a pain in the butt. The path of the blade is slightly off from the path of the sliding rails, causing the blade to pull when doing a long cut. Many people say this is due to a manufacturing defect in the casting of the parts. I have been unimpressed with it overall. I have heard only amazing things about the BOSCH GCM12SD. It does not use the traditional sliding rail system. Its a bit more expensive than the RIDGID (at about $599), but guys out there are saying it is as good or better than the $1400 FESTOOL sliding miter saws.
@anteowooddesign8748

I had the same problem with mine out of the box. There is a way to adjust the slide path. If you read through the manual it will show you how to do it. There are adjustment screws for it. It is a finicky process and I spent about 30 minutes correcting the slide path. I've had the saw 2 months and it has stayed on a true path since the adjustment. I used the saw everyday as a professional carpenter. Cuts perfect now. I've owned Dewalt and Makita sliders and both weren't perfect had no way to adjust, at least with the ridgid you can.

ANTEO wood design I tried finding the path adjustment in the manual, couldn't find it. Last time I tried to adjust it I cracked the housing. Thats why I'm on KZitem but have yet to find a video on path adjustment.........Ok......I found it, I used the 4 gib adjustment screws on the slider bar......I still could only get it to 1/16" on slide from full out to full in. Found that after taking the adjustment area cap off that it is maxed out and the slide bar is rubbing on the metal housing. Time to let this one go and buy another brand.
