I watched your video because the description said unboxing and setup. A little misleading, you didn't actually set up the saw (which is what I needed) but the cut settings. I would have watched a video on the setup and found it super helpful. You had great information on fine cuts, but I was really disappointed you didn't show the complete unboxing.

I have had this saw, probably an older version, for several years and have used it once or twice, but now I have a project in mind that will use this saw. I think the way you set up the vertical 90 deg alignment is perfectly fine and will work well for wood working projects that most of us are likely to encounter. However, I can get hung up on minor details sometimes and the question comes to mind how accurate is your reference square? I have been looking up squares and how square is the square? I think I am going to set up my saw using a machinists square which is probably a little more accurate than a speed square. This is not NASA but it will make my perfectionists mind feel better. Years ago when I was still working at my job, I realized that sometimes I did things a certain way because it was necessary, and sometimes I did things a certain way just because it just made me feel better to do it that way. I liked your video, since I have one of these saws and need to refresh myself as to how to use it.

I get the adjust of the bevel but when you did your first test cut, it was more of the check for flat angle, not the vertical angle. In other words, it was a test cut for 90 degrees, as you checked for the 45 degree on the second cut.
@intheshopwithjames3555

I did also check the blade being 90 deg to the base of the saw. I had to do some adjusting on the base to correct this. This is covered in the video.

I have the metabo version of this saw 🪚. What I’d like to know is if you can see a reason for the fence being so shallow upon the blade. The 10” blade could right angle 📐 cut a 2x8, but because of the fence, it can only do (and I’m assuming it can even do that) a 2x6.
@intheshopwithjames3555
3 жыл бұрын
It can do a 2x6. But just barely misses a 2x8 being cut all the way through. If you left the board up (not recommended or safe plan if there were to be any kick back). This is common on 10” mitre saws. Need a Radial arm saw to cut material deeper than a 6”.

Mine came out of the box set to 45 degree bevel. Instructions do say anything about how to change it! From watching a couple videos, I confirmed that the clamp handle in the back is for that. But mine won't budge. Is there some other picking pin or device set for shipping that I need to remove/adjust to get that handle to turn to the unlock position so I can set the bevel to zerol??

Shouldn’t be.... maybe tap on it gently with a rubber mallet. Remember. Righty tightly-Lefty loosey.
@pikesticker

@@intheshopwithjames3555 In this case you are wrong! When facing the locking handle on the back side you rotate the handle in a clockwise direction to loosen the handle so the angle can be adjusted. Righty Loosie, Lefty tighty. Lucy R - The locking handle coming from the factory has been set VERY tightly. You will have to apply a substantial amount of force in the clockwise direction to loosen up the handle for the first time.

I couldn't tell the front from the back when I unboxed my saw but I think I got it after watching your video. Now I'm trying to raise the blade. You were so fast I didn't see what you did. I'm heading over to Amazon for a new blade as you recommended. Do I have to get a Hitachi blade or can I use any 10" miter saw blade? Any suggestions on the best blade for doing trim work? My apologies for all the questions but I can't find a MiterSaw 101 video on You Tube and I really want to learn to run this thing.
