Mitsubishi Colt 1.1i year 2005 with 164.000 km on the odo, still had an original factory starter battery, which now had to be replaced. It suddenly failed, not being able to start the car, after charging it for 2 whole nights and one day it still had a voltage below 12 V, so definitely dead.
The change itself is very straight forward, just few things:
- the right terminals orientation - the plus and minus poles orientation is important, as majority of normal batteries have it on opposite sides as we need to have,
- the right capacity - for low trim levels 42 Ah is enough, higher trims require 61 Ah (I went for 44 Ah and it works fine, a manual air condition plus front power windows are here, nothing else),
- conservation of the terminals - in the video a contact conservation spray is used, a better choice might be usig a grease, which doesn't evaporate/degrade so quickly (will do that later),
- after change, the car wan't recognise the key at the first start attempt, displaying the key symbol at the odo display while making the beep sound (immobiliser), but just pull the key out and try again, it should be recognised and you can start the car then.
Good Luck!
P.S.: I do NOT make money from the product placements, it's just too much work to blend it out, sorry.
