I absolutely love this Pajero sport, despite of its love it or hate it styling. But it's the little packaging details that could be better, such as the DIY centre seat belt of second seat, the location of top tether points(roof mounted), which make the visibility and accessibility of third row seats difficult, and I wish this Beast was 4-7 cms wider. But for the price it is, and the tech it packs, esp the smooth 8 speed auto and that super select AWD, it's definitely the best in class where it matters most.

How about the Child Seat Restraint Anchor points..... are they on the back of the second row in the 5 seat versions?..... I believe (for the 7 seat versions) they are situated in the rear cargo area where the top of the boot door is.... can I suggest you mention Child Seat Restraint Anchor points when you do these reviews (if they are not situated at the back of the second row), as their position makes a HUGEEEEE difference to people with kids..... if they are above the rear door, this then means the Child Seat Restraint Belts would take up a lot of the boot area..... that does not suit, if I want to have a Cargo Barrier, Camping Fridge and Camping Gear in my rear cargo area. RRP hikes to of course. We take delivery of one next week after waiting since September!

I read a press release last year concerning Mitsubishi discontinuing the Pajero because of falling sales. I spoke with them about the fact that they have virtually not changed the Pajero for almost 3 decades, aside from cosmetics. even the 2020 model is the same as the 2000 model, including my 2004 unit. as I said, is it any wonder that sales are falling if the car hasn't changed. no one in their right mind would pay $60k for a car that contains the same technology as my 16 year old buggy. It would be wonderful to hear reviewers, on television, social media, youtube and the print media telling people "Don't waste your money buying these ute based units because the manufacturers refuse to listen to their customers. they supply under powered, detuned diesels based on farm tractor vehicles and tell the consumer that that is what they wanted". No, it isn't! Europe and North America are moving away from Diesels due to the emissions problems and costs but Australians are being fed old, under powered tech. for a farm tractor, the Hilux, Ford and Mitsubishi are fine. they're supposed to be a little rough and ready. As an example of how concerned manufacturers are: I spoke with Nissan as to why their recently rereleased NIssan Patrol has a 'very dated' (read: OLD) dashboard layout compared to those in the UAE and North America, including tech? I was told that Nissan listens to their customers, so I repeated the questions and the representative hung up on me. so much for listening. this is the standard response from Nissan, Mitsubishi and Toyota. and what is even more annoying is reviewers are more concerned about getting the car than shining a light on just how little regard these companies have for end users. I could go on, but it won't make one iota of difference. I've spoken to a number of reviewers and that's as far as it goes.
@chasingcars
3 жыл бұрын
Right. I think we are very clear in describing these vehicles as relatively agricultural ute-based wagons. But at the end of the day, it’s an automotive journalist’s job to assess a vehicle honestly and in context. This includes an honest appraisal of the environmental impact, which we provide when we relate real world fuel use statistics. The market choose to buy, or not buy.

Its 2 decades of the same body, but if you've got a good proven product why change it. Just improve the small things when needed. Some euro car companies have been doing it for many decades. The Pajero sport is a very good ride.

I bought a Pajero Sport 2022 model. The care is great but the quality of the parts are shocking, the car does not even have 3200km on the dial and the manifold and turbo is rusting. Ugh deal breakers lol but i can see why some people still buy it; it's offered with tons of discounts, it's one of the most efficient utes and it's nimble to drive while being reliable too. Sadly, i wouldn't pick it over the fortuner or new mu-x but i do hope an upcoming model in the few years will be so much better.
