I just compared this plugin to my hardware mixbus chain (SSL Bus Comp + MBT) and the plugin is impressive. It still remains 10% in favor of the hardware (which is relevant in the mixbus) but I can joyfully affirm that now I can mix on the go in complete tranquility replicating the hardware chain of my studio!!! Thanks Kiive Audio!

No hyped, “this is a game changer” nonsense, but the before and after - showcase the difference nicely for those that listen. Very well done, thanks for another great video, keep ‘em coming 👍😀

@@spinlightstudios You’re welcome man! I’ve been revisiting my mixing chops the last 6-8 months partly because of your excellent videos. I think the way you always are faithful to your initial or rough mix, and only enhancing it bit by bit in a very smooth way really inspired me to try the same. I think it has helped me a lot. Keep doing the mix reviews too, as they are usually packed with useful stuff to learn from. Great to see your channel growing, you really deserve that!

I’ll have to test it against the Fusion plugins, which sound fantastic as well. My first thoughts are that the Neve side will be more usable for certain songs, because the SSL Fusion Drive and the SSL Fusion Violet EQ plugins can get pretty bright, dramatically changing the tone of your mix in those frequencies, unlike what I’m hearing from the Neve. I’m using the SSL Fusion plugins in the Mix Bus, following the order on the hardware and also its recommended insert points, meaning, I’m using the SSL Bus Comp plugin right after the Vintage Drive (it’s where it works best for me). They did something similar here, by replacing the HF Comp with the SSL Bus Comp at the second insert point, right before the Stereo Image. I really like the HF Comp plugin, because it helps to tame the high frequencies coming from the Vintage Drive and the Violet EQ, which, as I said, can get really bright (I usually have the HIGH at 0, but even 1.8 will sometimes be too much). EDIT: Just tested it. The big difference from the SSL Fusion Plugins is weight. I was using the exact same settings. It has that low-end vibe of analog gear. Fantastic plugin. Loved both the Neve side and the SSL side. I didn’t miss the HF Comp to be honest. Highly recommended plugin, this sounds great! Going into my wishlist. Side note: a bit heavier on the CPU than all the SSL Fusion Plugins combined.

Nice overview. You said this was how the session sounds after tracking. May I ask was that intentional?l for it to sound dark and muddy?
@spinlightstudios
5 ай бұрын
No but I just hadn’t applied any processing, so basically no EQ - sometimes sessions are fast moving and not much time to sit and tweak sounds. All of the sounds are nice and captured well - just need some EQ and they will be good. Plus we have lots of Tom’s, bass, acoustic guitar and keys - loads of sounds that fill a similar range which need separation via EQ.

@@spinlightstudiosThat's great mate but if you're in some kinda of business relationship with the developer, it's a promotion or advertisement. I'm not saying any of this to hammer at you, but because there are guidelines on youtube for this. Also the transparency would get you a long way with the thousands of viewers, that are fed up with hidden promotion. If you was looking for a car, and the reviewer only reviews cars he likes and have an affiliate link at the bottom to get you X percent off, claiming it was the safest car to drive, would you buy that car? I don't have an issue with affiliate links or promotion in anyway, however transparency about makes a difference, so we can make a conscious choice going into the video (or choose not to watch it). Cheers mate 🙂
