Mixed Conditional 2 ( condition part = past simple; result part = would have + past participle) 1: If I trusted him I would have hired him for the job . Mixed Conditional 1 ( condition part = past simple; result part = would + present simple) 2: If he took care of himself he would not be sick right now. 1st Conditional ( condition part = present simple; result part = would have + future simple) 3: If I am going on a business trip next week I will not accept a new assignment at work.

What is the difference between ‘If I had been afraid of snakes, I would not have gone camping.’ and ‘If I were afraid of snakes, I would not have gone camping.’? I think there is no difference between two in meaning because in both cases, the speaker was not afraid of snakes before going camping. Please tell me what you think. Thank you.

Hi, the first time when I faced mixed conditional#2 I thought like this, and I considered the the same as third conditional, but if we pay attention much more, we could realize that the first part of mixed conditional#2 is a hypothetical situation in the present by using past simple, but the first part of third conditional is a situation that is related to the past. You know I'm not certain, but this is how I differentiate them. 🙏

Song by Barenaked Ladies If I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars Well, I'd buy you a house I would buy you a house And if I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars I'd buy you furniture for your house Maybe a nice chesterfield or an ottoman And if I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars Well, I'd buy you a K-Car A nice reliant automobile And if I had a million dollars I'd buy your love If I had a million dollars I'd build a tree fort in our yard If I had a million dollars You could help, it wouldn't be that hard If I had a million dollars Maybe we can put like a little tiny fridge in there somewhere You know, we could just go up there and hang Like open the fridge and stuff And there would already be foods laid out for us Like little pre-wrapped sausages and things, mm They have pre-wrapped sausages, but they don't have pre-wrapped bacon Well, can you blame them? Uh, yeah? If I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars Well, I'd buy you a fur coat But not a real fur coat, that's cruel And if I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars Well, I'd buy you an exotic pet Yep, like a llama or an emu And if I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars Well, I'd buy you John Merrick's remains Ooh, all them crazy elephant bones And if I had a million dollars I'd buy your love If I had a million dollars We wouldn't have to walk to the store If I had a million dollars Now, we'd take a limousine 'cause it costs more If I had a million dollars We wouldn't have to eat Kraft Dinner But we would eat Kraft Dinner Of course we would, we'd just eat more And buy really expensive ketchups with it That's right, all the fanciest-, Dijon ketchup, mm, mm If I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars Well, I'd buy you a green dress But not a real green dress, that's cruel And if I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars Well, I'd buy you some art A Picasso or a Garfunkel If I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars Well, I'd buy you a monkey Haven't you always wanted a monkey? If I had a million dollars I'd buy your love If I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars If I had a million dollars I'd be rich Source: Musixmatch
