Hello Pete, I have been trying to work on a song of mine. Every time I go into Final Touch, there is buzzing or interference. I don't know how to get rid of it.

Hey I’ve tried mixing and mastering in my iPad but cant seem to get a loud master no matter what I do. Im using Cubasis 2 but I also tried using FINAL Touch and Grand Finally and still its not loud enough. I’ve cut bass frequencies and checked my gain staging and eq and also done my volume gain in “stages” but no matter what it still not loud.
@PeteJohnsMusic
4 жыл бұрын
So when you say not loud, in what way? If you’re using limiting and pushing up to 0dB it should be loud. And remember you generally want some dynamic range so things aren’t TOO loud.
@thebeatrumble
4 жыл бұрын
Pete Johns well it’s not loud compared to songs that are being played on streaming platforms. I know you can’t compare to a professional master but I’ve heard some other peoples tracks on KZitem and my tracks just seem like they are at least 5 decibels lower. I don’t know if KZitem adds volume to your tracks when you upload. Even some peoples intros are way louder than most of my mixes. I think I’m over compressing my mix so I’m trying to remix some of my tracks. Do you know if audio share volume is lower than other apps. Im trying to see if maybe cause I use audio share for playback from my phone to my car. In my headphones it sounds loud but the moment I get in my car it falls flat.

Hey Pete! I would love your help with my problem, when I put a sample in my sampler the key changes the speed of the sample played, how can I change it?

I probably would mic my acoustic guitar if I were doing just a guitar and voice kind of thing. Otherwise, I find that in the mix, using the built-in pickup on the guitar sounds fine and doesn't make a great amount of difference except that it's easier to mix. I don't even have a Taylor (not enough talent to warrant the expense). I have a Fender CD-140SCE, and it sounds very good to my ears. I suspect NZ wouldn't want Russell Crowe either. But I do like the fact that John Oliver bought Crowe's jockstrap as a joke and Crowe used the profits to name a koala chlamydia wing of a veterinary hospital after Oliver. BTW, kudos to Jade Star on the drums.
@PeteJohnsMusic

Thanks for the interesting comments as always. I guess a pickup is pretty much a microphone anyway? 🤔. Either way, if it sounds good, it is good!

@@PeteJohnsMusic That's all I care about. I'll never be a mastering engineer, or even a very good musician. I do what I do mostly to amuse myself. BTW, I paused your video and recorded an almost complete version of the song "They Don't Know About Us" (originally by Kirsty MacColl and Tracey Ullman) because I felt inspired by your video.

What a great channel! I dabble with mastering, a little, but I’ve been told that mastering with headphones gives a poor mix for listening on a sound system because you hear so much more detail with the sound right next to your ears, but subtitle sounds you hear in headphones get buried when listening on speakers. Your opinion?
@PeteJohnsMusic
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, in a perfect world you would mix and master on monitor speaker in a well treated room. Using headphones is more challenging but as long as you take your mixes and listen on other speakers (car, stereo, earbuds, Bluetooth speaker) and then adjust to make it balanced across all, you should end up with decent quality masters.

hi, Pete! Thanks for your channel first of all!!! It is inspiring!!! I noticed that you have a full drums track in your project and below there are separated tracks with snare kick etc. Please, tell how separate that full drum part to different tracks? May be there is the easiest way to do that
@PeteJohnsMusic

Hey there my friend. The drums were actually done by my friend Jade Starr on this one so I’ll ask her to jump in and comment on this one. 👍

Dima Groshev hey there. Thanks Pete. Well on this track and any drums I perform I use my E Drum kit. But using virtual drums is just as good. I’ve made a very simple little tutorial video on my KZitem page to help with how to do it. There really isn’t an easier way. But it’s not really a lot of work for the benefits you get having each part on an individual track. Especially for mixdown. Plus you can choose different kits for each part. Multiple different sounding crash cymbals also give your kit a larger sound overall. Sometimes I end up with 3 different cymbals and the rest shared over a few kits. Here the link to my video. Sorry it ain’t nowhere as well presented as Pete’s vids 🤘 kzitem.info/news/bejne/rq9mn6CPfnNyjI4
